June 2012 Weddings

G.I.S. - Your plans?

With 6ish months to go... what are your fitness goals and plans to reach them?

I'm thankfully very near my goal weight, so weight loss isn't part of my concerns, but eating right and toning up more are my goals.

I plan on cutting down on meat and animal by-products, eating more vegetarian/vegan than non. I'll still include fish, and steak on special occasionas as FI can't/won't do without. This will encourage me to eat more fruits and veggies, which are full of those healthy vitamins that I'm so in need of. I'm also taking a vitamin supplement for D and Bs, because I live in the Pacific Northwest, we get very little sun, and being "so far north" the sunlight isn't that beneficial anyway.

Also for exercise I plan to increase my cardio from 30 min 3x a week to 60 min 6x a week (over the course of the next few months). And doing "The Complete Book of Abs for Women" exercises 3x a week, and TK full body workout 3x a week. :D

Here's to looking hot at my wedding!

I'm very near to my goal weight as well, but I too would be happier to be more toned. I'm going to be cutting back on the fast food (that we seem to order all the ime at work) as well as adding more fruits and vegetables.

If you want to become fmore toned, wouldn't you need the protein from the meat to help build the muscle mass it takes to get them toned?  Unless you are taking a supplement?

  • FI and I tend to eat fast food too often too, we're working on going to the store for a healthier option instead...

I see a nutritionist as a benefit of my gym, and they gave me a super tasty supplement to use. Also helps me on mornings that I need to get out of the house quick.

  • Unfortunately, I am not close to my goal weight yet.  I have already been working on my plan to get there though!  I eat between 1200-1500 calories/day and track them all using aprkpeople (great website and free).  I also work out 6 days a week.

My workouts vary between either 40-60 minutes on the elliptical to a variety of different classes at the gym.  I might up this when it gets closer to the wedding, if I am still not close to my goal.

  • I'm mainly going to start working out more. Now I try for 3 times a week, but it doesn't happen very often. I'm going to start with going up to 3 days a week and then bump it up to 4, then 5. I don't want to work myself to hard or start something that can't be maintained. I also want to start doing more active stuff with FI - taking walks, playing tennis, etc. As for eating, I plan on staying away from fast food, fried foods, and dessert. It's so much easier to eat healthy when you're cooking at home and that's going to be my main focus. I'm not going to beat myself over it if I eat some french fries though.
  • My plan is similar to Kelsey's. I plan to eat healthier and at home and increase my working out frequency.

  • After doing Weight Watchers on and off for several years, I have FINALLY made it to my goal weight and I recently got my lifetime membership!  I have lost a total of 40 lbs :)

I want to lose about 8 more pounds for the wedding.  I plan to continue to do Weight Watchers (if anyone hasn't tried Weight Watchers I HIGHLY recommend it!) and continue exercising.  I do spin class at the gym about 2-3 times per week, but I try to go to the gym a total of about 4-5 times per week.

Good luck to all of us as we work toward looking and feeling our very best on our wedding days!

  • I plan on starting to work out consistently.  I recently got a gym membership, but have been lacking the motivation.  Once I get into the habit of going to the gym after work, I do great, but it is getting to that point that is tough.  I will also be drinking more water, and eating more fresh fruits and veggies.  I try to eat small meals throughout the day currently instead of larger meals, and will continue to do that.

  • I would like to get more toned and I'm noticing extra weight in my stomach from the holidays :/ I need to use my gym membership more and my parents bought FI a wii for Christmas so after Christmas I'll buy the Zumba for it. I love the classes but I get embarassed easily so I know I'll use it more at home

</div><div>There are PLENTY of great sources of protein from plants--beans, lentils, quinoa, tofu, nuts, and seeds are just some examples! They're so much better for your body and for the earth. Most North Americans get way more protein than they actually need, anyway. The only people who really need to be concerned about it are athletes in certain sports and hard-core body-builders.

  • Oops, forgot to answer the original question! I think I might start doing total body weights three times a week, instead of just twice, and I'll also be better about making swim practices. I'm currently running three times a week: one easy (1 mile at 6.1 or 6.2 mph), one for speed (intervals of 1 min at 6 mph, 1 min at 7.5 mph, for about a mile), and one "long" (2 miles at 6-6.2mph). I'm gradually increasing the distance of my long run and picking up my speed on the other two runs. I'm going to try to add in some time on the stationary bike as well, for variety.

As for diet, I need to start eating more fruits and veggies and healthy soups! I don't eat much fast food or junk food, but I have to watch my portion sizes and I get mad chocolate cravings when I'm PMSing!
  • I'm just trying to eat better, cut out on unhealthy snacking, and exercising a little more.

  • Right now I am where I am happiest, although someone just told me I look "too skinny" this morning.  I am totally a healthy looking woman, so whatever >:\

I work out 4x a week, mostly cardio and light weight training.  As we slowly get closer I am increasing my cardio and ab workouts... I def would to be completely toned in my abdomen region for the HM.

I never deny myself of anything food wise- this probably isn't a great thing.  I should watch that a little more since I am sure that could only increse my results.

<div>My dad called me too skinny the other day, I think it's more to do with the fact that I had my hair up (i have a longer neck) and a baggy shirt that hung off of me. I'm still within a healthy BMI and body fat %, so I'm not worried about it. He just cares. :D</div>

If they want to see too skinny I would be glad to show them the VS fashion show, lol - As long as you feel great and have a healthy BMI, you're good!
