Wedding dress woes.. what to do? Vent with photos (kinda long)

Ok ladies,

I went looking for a dress today kinda on a whim. My sister and I had a couple hours to spare so we googled bridal stores and set out. We initially planned to go to David's but they were booked. :(

So we end up at this bridal boutique where the woman and her daughter were so helpful and just plain nice. They didn't act nice because they wanted a sale, they seemed genuine.--- this is so important to me.  So I try on a couple dresses in  styles I researched and planned. Then there was one, my least favorite that I tried on and loved it.

My issue is I am plus size bride so the boutiques do not have many dresses that I am able to try on in my size. This place had a few options. I tried on some that wouldn't go over my butt ( oh lordie!) but this last dress fit really good, a smidgen too small, but I got it on and strapped up. Really cute.

the dress was $1350 WOW -- but I really loved it. Tonight I looked online similar priced dresses and I just don't see any that I like as much.

I have to pay about $800 up front and then it will arrive in December. Other issues are:

1. I don't want to love a dress just because it was one of the few that I actually fit into today.  BTW we visited 4 stores including David's - tried on a total of 5 dresses- We have appointments for two other stores Thursday

2. It is way outta budget ( I know about Pearl's Place and I will contact them tomorrow)

3. I hate having a fear of pulling the trigger!!

I love the dress and my sister does too. I sent her some online pics of other dresses but she says nothing compares.

4. I was never one for the fluffy bottom .. but I love how it is half fluffy and half more traditional... And the back is a lace up which gave me a GREAT figure!

here are some pictures

I look confused in one of them.. don't mind the look... LOL

If you are unsure shop around....then if you keep going back to that same dress then I say go for it...do you have Alfred Angelou in your area they are similar to Davids....you have 7 months...so tech another month before you need to order so take your time

MsAmeera25-- Yes I do have Alfred Angelo-- I have been there and we have an appointment set there and David's on Thursday. I think the thing that is blowing me away is the price... I know that is not expensive compared to some dresses but I was not expecting that! But I do love it!
    -thanks

For the price... if you know the designer and style number, I HIGHLY suggest you call Pearl's Place to get a quote from them!!!

I understand about being a plus sized bride that was one of the main things that I was concerned about when I went to look for my dress you should definetly take your time and look around although the stores may not have the actual size what they can do is pin the dress to you, to show how the dress will look on you. But after looking and you still come back to that same dress then you have your dress.

I understand how you feel.  The dress I ended up purchasing was one that i didn't even want to try on, but did it because my sis wanted to see me in it.  I put it on and fell in LOVE.  Of course it ended up being double my budget.  So I waited, went in and tried it on again, waited again and then decided that nothing compared to it.   The fact that it was the only dress that I loved and the one dress that mae me actually enjoy the dress trying on process convinced me it was the one.  Think about it, shop around if you want and if nothing compares buy it.  I think it is a gorgeous dress and you look great.  You still have time, so you can sleep on it =) !!

Basically I'm agreeing with ppl. If you love the dress now just finish doing your other appt and if nothing catches your eye you know it is the dress. But definitely contact Pearl's Place. I'm plus size too and I couldn't fit my dress sample. I ordered it anyway. When it arrived, I finally got to try it on and it is too big so far. But I'm in love with my dress. Good luck and keep us posted

Like everyone else has said continue to shop around and if you keep coming back to it then it may just be your dress.  You could ask if they are having a trunk show or if they are willing to include alteration or something to help with the cost!  Hey it doens't hurt to ask.  I know you'll find the dress of your dreams and if this is it then everything will work out including the price.  You just have to ask!

I too am plus size.  I found and fell in love with Mori Lee's Julietta line.  It is the full figure line from Mori Lee but its not just dresses that were for smaller girls made into bigger sizes.  They actually took the time to design dresses to flatter a woman with a fuller figure.  Check it out.

I also agree with everyone else keep looking and if nothing else compares go back and get that original dress.  I hope Pearl's Place has it for you.

@ Cat... Oh goodness why did you send me that link... one of the dresses is beautiful!!!  Good Lordie.... there are so many dresses out there.. but I guess the key is how it will look on me. Tomorrow I will call Pearls Place to see what they are talking about to compare figures and I think I will keep the appointment for Thursday just to see if there are any other loves out there for me!

My friend says there is one love for everyone and one dress.. we shall see!

I was going to suggest Morie Lee as well. I purchased a gown from the Julietta line and got a great price on it downtown LA (not at Ibex in the fashion district). The stores downtown proper that sell wedding gowns are Morie Lee retailers and can order for you.  I went with a store that gave me a great price on the gown and are doing bust and waist alterations for free.

Granted, this was before I learned about Pearl's Place, so I may have been able to get a slightly better deal.

Try on other dreses and if none of the other dresses compare to that dress then it is your dress.  If you comparte every dress to tha dress then it is your dress. On a side note I think you look great in that dress!
Until the first full year of being one! Anniversary
