Anyone on the board into Amateur Photography?

I love taking pictures and it just dawned on me that I should make it more of a hobby. So I want to build a portfolio mainly consisting of portraits of children and babies. Just purchased a new Canon Digital SLR camera, since my digital camera is ancient. :-)

    Over here!!!I enjoy taking pics and was thinking about taking a basic photography class next semester, how do you like your new camera? I have the Cannon Power shot but am hoping to see the D 90 under the Christmas tree :.)

    I'm still waiting on it to be shipped. I'm considering taking an online class or either a class at University of North Florida.

    ,I know this is a couple of days old (I've been MIA to the tenth degree on this board), but I love photography. I have a friend that graduated with an art degree with a concentration in photography so he's been giving me some pointers. I'm getting an SLR within the next month and I am so excited. My Powershot is good, but it's time for an upgrade!,
