Come armed with specifics. This will help narrow down dresses. Also whatever you do, don't let anyone else influence you on your dress choice.

Try on a few dresses that you never had in mind to try. If your friends/family and maybe the salesperson (unless she's trying to pawn something on you that's completely out of your budget) are suggesting dresses that you were not initially considering, I'd give it a chance. People sometimes have a better eye for things that look good on us than we do for ourselves. On that same note, don't let anyone talk you into anything that you're not comfortable wearing. At the end of the day you're the one who will have to look at those pictures for years to come. You don't want to hate what you wore on your wedding day for the rest of your life. With all that said, enjoy your day and take lots of pictures *if the store allows or sneak some in when the salesperson is not looking ;)*.

Bring the proper undergarments: strapless bra, spanx, etc...the boutique should have a crinny to try with your dress. Above all, don't forget your camera. U can go back to the pics to refresh your memory of how they look on u...and to show us cuz we nosey! Have fun!

I agree with the other ladies.  Just have an open mind and try on styles that you may have not normally considered.  I was bent on getting a mermaid, but somehow, I ended up with a slim A-line gown.  And try not to be tempted to get a dress that's way out of your price range.  You do want to look beautiful on your wedding day, but it may not be worth it to put you in a bind.  I struggled with that too.Other than that, enjoy every minute of it and take plenty of pics!!!Good luck :)

If you try on something and you are unsure about it, walk away from it, go to some other stores.  If when you try on other dresses, you only think about this one particular dress.  Don't be afraid to take some time to think about the dress.  Bottom line, if it's meant to be yours, it's not going anywhere because that was the dress you were supposed to wear.  And as pp said, yes, try on something you never would have thought about, you may like it.

Thank you ladies for all the advice. I found 2 gorgeous dresses, one embellished with beads and one plain...BUT, everything that could go wrong did today, tire went flat on 95 south, making me miss my initial appt and the next ( I took a cancelled spot). I finally got to the salon and the consultants were a jewel.I have a great start, I'm going to one more store tomorrow....we'll see how it goes again.
