This day went from Awesome to sucking

I have been working with this restaurant in Atlanta for months trying to get my Fi down to taste it cause all he wants is soul food, but when we got the quote for 2 entrees and 3 sides, and servers it was almost $3000! So the guy has been really helpful at giving me exactly what I needed. We figured we would get the side items from them and buy the meats through a cheaper restaurant and still be under $1000. So he sends my final quote today for only $560 or something, Great! Then when I told him my venues asks that we provide them with a business license from wherever we get our food from. Far enough or so I thought. He tells me that since we did not go with the catering menu they will not give us the documents. I forwarded the email to my venue and am waiting or a response b/c they hardly answer the phone plus I want there answer in writing(email). Why can't he just send the documents?

He probably can't since you are not getting all the food from him, if he gives you the docs and someone gets sick he would be liable. Since there would be no way to tell they didn't get sick from just the sides etc.

Ask your venue if you can sign a waiver, then you can assume personal liability should anyone get sick. And still have the food you want.

The venue just responded to my email they say a license has to be on file for the health department, but what's crazy is he said if we had ordered off the catering menu it would be different. Either way they still would only be dropping off the food. I called another caterer I had been waiting to hear from & she told me they would also only be able to drop off & she could email me the documents I needed. I agree the first restaurant is trying to cover themselves but I just wish I had know sooner.
