just received a wedding invite.......and

So first today is the first day we didnt get any rsvp's in a month :( lol but we did get a wedding invite today July 3 and guess when the rsvp deadline is....July 14th. Now tha is what I am talking about lol....what did I do? went straight to my computer a rsvp'd (even though it literally took her a month to DROP OFF her rsvp to me smh)

Re: just received a wedding invite.......and

  • Yeah... someone told me to send them six weeks in advance (except for out of towners). We sent them out eight weeks in advance with a four week in advance rsvp deadline...

It's hard to wait to send them, but it's nice to just get the rsvps in...

</div><div>So do you think this would still apply for an OOT wedding? I know I want my RSVP date to be June 1st, but I should not send the invite out until May 1 with an June 1st RSVP date for our July 5th wedding?

Yea, see this is why I am having 2 RSVP dates. Yep sure am for A list and B listers. Basically, so that the B listers don't really know they are B listers....I'm having a 2nd RSVP card printed that has a different date which is my absolute LAST day (oct.17 - 4wks out) and I will send those out as the No's from the A list comes or the RSVP date has passed (IF I HAVEN'T gotten to my max number of guests).

If the wedding it OOT.. then I would plan on sending invites out earlier, so that people who would want to attend can plan ahead of time to be there and all the accomodations arrangements, etc.
I sent my invites out almost 3 months before the wedding mostly because we had a lot of OOT guests on the list, and wanted to give them time to make bookings under the blocks that we had that expired a couple weeks before our RSVP date.

I also did the 2 RSVP date not for A or B list but the actual RSVP & then the one for BLACK PEOPLE...LOL. In other words I gave myself an extra week just so I would stay calm...There are 3 people I knwo of who have called & said they are unsure because of job related issues & those are the only exceptions I'm making!! As my pastor say " you're in or you're out"!

<div>OOT is definitely different. The majority of our friends live locally -- and I almost slipped up because we had ONE invitation to send to Egypt... For a destination wedding, you might want to do 12 weeks... Did you send save the dates though? What type of response/reaction did you get?</div>

That is the best idea I ever heard. Two RSVP dates is so much easier. I just ordered a second batch of invitations for the b listers.
