VENT: Broke and on a serious budget

OMGEEZZZYY, am I the only one that feels like a broke street person? I swear to goodness I just feel like "why me and whoa is me." I am so over this savings plan it's ridiculous.

I can't buy any clothes, I can't eat out. I am dying over here. Hellooooooo!!! Please tell me I am not the only bride to be feeling this way. My friends are going out left and right and I just can't do it. Please save me from my misery Cry.

Sorry just a little vent is all....

I can't even express how I'm in the same boat!  We are doing ok (on 1 salary in the household) but I am not used to not having my own money.  Plus now is the year I really have to focus hard on wedding planning.

But I always tell myself that no matter what things will work out fine.  It may not be right now but in the end we will both be ok.

    Hang in there!!

We're not saving that hardcore over here, but I understand! Hubby just said that my whole paycheck will be going towards wedding stuff. So... oh well. That's what I get for wanting to have a wedding.

Girl, I hear ya on the clothes and spending money. Like PP said, hang in there. You'll be able to make up for it soon enough. I think as the date gets closer, you're spending more money which just leads to more anxiety.
FI and I already know that we are going to end up about $3 to $5k over budget but we are OK with that. We figured we'll just take the money out of savings to make up for it.
Plus we're hoping Uncle Sam is kind to us this year.

I am so trying to hang in there yall but this saving is a blower. I have even contemplated calling this crap off lol just so I can have my money to myself. **selfish as hell** but I know at the end of the day I would be so blown if I did that. So needless to say I am carrying on this wedding planning thing.

Girl I know Uncle sam is going to eat me alive once again. Dag this sucks so bad!!!

4 months and some change to go........I am so over.

Broke has been my middle name the entire wedding process. FI & I are working on 1 income due to my lay off last year. We both are turning friend's outings down left & right. Not even adding in wedding stuff, I can't shop like I used to, take trips w/ girlfriends, and the list goes on. We've had the "should we just wait" conversation many many times. After having several meltdowns, I just starting eliminating stuff for the wedding left & right. All the nice & glamorous stuff I wanted for the wedding went out the window. To make things cheaper for us, I had to make really hard decisions & just come to grasps with not having everything in the wedding that I previously wanted. I had to accept that all I needed that day was the venue, food/cake/alcohol, and FI (of course Officiant....lol).

As pp said, its getting a little hectic & frustrating as the day gets closer. Trust me....I know. The Cynthia & Peter story on Housewives of ATL in my exact story. "Where are we gonna get the rest of the $$ for this wedding?" I just keep telling myself its gonna happen. Just know that all the sacrifices you're making now & the $$ you are investing is going into something great! Motivation...lol.

OMG!!! It is not just you. Broke is my first, middle, and lastname. Not only are we trying to pay for our wedding. We are still trying to make sure our boys are able to continue their sports activities.

I know there is a light at the end of this long dark tunnel!

We haven't started paying for the major stuff yet (aside from putting down deposits), so it really hasn't hit me yet. My poor FI gets an anxiety attack every time I mention wedding since all he sees are $$ signs lol and I'm like whatever, you're the one thats wants a big wedding since you wanna invite everyone in your address book to our wedding. I'm hoping we'll take care of the major stuff with our tax returns, then save for the rest - don't really want to dig into savings, but we will if we have to.

I understand completely.  I was hoping someone would do this.  I have a breakdown about it at least once a week.  Now I'm at the point where I just want the day to be over so I can stop being so stressed.  I'm trying to negotiate prices down with the reception venue, but they aren't feeling me either!!  On top of that my stupid sister planned her birthday outing in New Orleans this year in March, and is gonna be pissed if I don't come but I don't think we can afford it.

I'm way over this whole wedding planning thing too! I love to shop so I just stay out of the mall so I won't do any impulse shopping! The fact that I started the wedding savings account helped out alot but its still money out the window!

I also cut my outings with friends down, I let my friends know if we aren't getting in free before 12 then I'm not going because I refuse to pay $30 to get in someone's club! FI and I also cut our date nights back to every other week instead of biweekly

I am glad I am not the only one feeling like this.  I love to shop, I am having a hard time staying out of the mall and shopping online. Sometimes I just want to cancel the whole thing and go to the courthouse.  My FI has his own place and I have mine, I am planning to give up my place and move in with him to help save more money. I wish my rich uncle would start looking for his long lost neice, because I miss MACY's.  Our wedding is not until November and we have placed a deposit on all of the major things. I look at it this way.... I am marrying the man of my dreams and his love for me his priceless, and if I have to sacrifice a shoe sale at Macy's then so be it. Wink

Perhaps that explains why I have the urge to literally buy everything new!  From a totally new hair style to a new shoe wardrobe!  It's getting ridiculous over here! It's like we're trying to make up for lost time or something.  I think I've rubbed off on DH a little too!

So, as a warning:  please do not go crazy after the wedding with any monetary gifts you all may receive!  Ok, you can get a couple pairs of shoes!Wink

OK so don't shoot me - - but even though we are all going through it right now, you all are making me feel so much better.  I mean this in the best way.. I don't feel like the only broke sista out here.  I am SO itching to do my taxes.  Thanks to my kids (I love them for real!) I am  looking at a very nice return - - all of which is going directly to the wedding account.

And just like everyone else, I am only doing the major stuff for the wedding.  Any extras are going to have to be cut.  As long as everyone has a good time, I'm good.
