What did you spurlge on for your wedding?

I spent the most on my pictures. My first marriage I had a cousin of a cousin take them and they were horrible. Not to mad since it didn't last. I got it right this time so I went all out on the package.

Talk to me sisters......

  • Girl my FI's cousin is doing our pics for free. He did our E-Pics and they turned out great.

My biggest splurge has to be my dress! I am having a little buyers remorse because I keep thinking about what I could have done with that money. I do plan on selling it afterwards to recoup some of the cost.

  • Mine is probably Pictures and the reception venue... I got a real good deal with pictures, including, engagement shoot, buduoir, photo book, etc. So excited.. For the reception venue we have to provide everything, food, drinks, etc.. But it is well worth it..

    mernin luvies.

I wanna agree with 'scine, but if I've gotta choose one category, it's the caterer.  When I say we're not foodies I'm being diplomatic.  His palette cannot distinguish between foie gras and fried bologne, but now at our tasting, when the chef came out he said I'm writing the deposit check right now, can you go back there *points to kitchen* and make us a take home box.  That aside the elements that make a party a hit for me are was the food slamming and was the music on point.

@ B I remember the found my dress check.  This is just one bride's humble opinion, but luvie you COULD NOT have done better for a) that variation of uniqueosity (hush) and b) a vera wang.  Just looked up at your date, it's prolly hanging in your closet already so I don't know if this helps or hurts your feelings but it's on preownedweddingdresses.com.  (it was one of the styles I was stalking)
  • We are going to splurge on the brass band and the Zulu tramps. My parents are paying for my photography ( 9 hours wedding day coverage 3 locations, engagement pics, bridal session annnnnnd the day before pics with my wedding party rocking customized converse ripped jeans and white tops all for 1325!!) The place we are getting the tuxes from are providing us with two free limos due to the amount of tuxes we are getting so we only have to rent the car for me and my parents to ride in to the church and then to the reception. Sorry so long lol
  • Definitely my dress. Ended up spending double my budget. Put I have no regrets about it, and I plan on reselling it afterwards.
  • I would say my splurge is Decor. I wanted to have a WOW factor and I definately have that. From linens, to lighting, to different tablescapes, to ceremony decor, to monogrammed aisle runner, petals.....just everywhere. The most expense if the food, but that was going to be anyway.

  • My biggest splurge has been my videographer and photographer. I was debating not having a videographer but after talking to other brides on this board and others I decided to add it. I am so happy I did. I think it will be one of the best keepsakes from that day.
  • We spent the most on food/venue and second was our photographer.

  • So far it would be photography. I got my first choice who one of the very best in New Orleans. FI balked initially but I just told him, I did not want to compromise in this area.

  • Music and Photography. I love live music and I feel it adds an extra energy! The photographer is amazing but he is not cheap.

    Wedding date July 7, 2012
  • Food and Photos.

My people HAVE to eat good (we are some major chefs around here we ALL can burn...even the men, heck my 17 year old can tear a George Foreman grill dowwwwwnnnn) so....we have to splurge. We are having our reception at a restaurant versus a venue and the menu and cocktail reception will be divine and delish....from the appetizers to the cupcakes and rum cakes and candy...and then in our honeymoon suite we are doing another "mini-reception" for the late night partiers (we are all hitting the Vegas strip after the reception). It will be gourmet sandwiches, cookies, milk, etc. My cousins own a Sandwich shop in Vegas so that part won't be expensive at all.

The photos...well....in a nutshell...have to be nothing short of perfection. I hate to admit I went so far as to even considered booking a photographer who was the same cost as the reception itself!!!!! RIDICULOUS! FI had to get me back to my senses ASAP. But, My mom and Dad are helping with the photography because they know it's that important to me....so yes, I am splurging on that too.

I've seen your pictures B, I couldn't squeeze my ass into your dress with a crowbar.
  • Venue is our big spurge, but it's all-inclusive.

  • Our's was the linens. They didn't cost very much but they also weren't necessary but I wanted them. I would say our venue but it was the best value for what we wanted. We couldn't pass it up!
