African Traditions

Is anyone incorporating any traditions other than jumping the broom into their ceremony? I really love the kola nut tradition, as well as the tasting of the four elements. Also considering a libation ceremony to honor grandparents who have passed on.

That is an awesome one, I plan on including that too, I had that scripture inscribed on a going away gift before his first deployment after we were dating. Im thinking we will have a decorative cord draped over our shoulders during the ceremony. How are you going to incorporate it?

We plan on having the pastor read what each cord symbolizes and the meaning behind it. We plan on having our parents complete the sand ceremony as the combining of 2 families...then we will do the cord....I found this website below...I haven't decided fuly how it will go yet...

We are doing the tasting of the elements. Not really because its an african tradition but because what it stood for. Neither one of us have family or cultural traditions that will be done beside the unitycandle/sand ceremony.
