Poll: How long did it take you to find "the dress"?

I'm scared that I have not fallen in love with one dress (althought I have been wowed by one a few weeks ago- but I was not allowed to take pictures of it). I hope I can find a dress that I love! Please let me know about your moment of decision! :)

I went to about 8 shops. I had been looking at dresses for 8 months before I actually went to see any in person. I was literally at a whim shop before my appointment to go order a dress that I was fine with. I tried on the dress I was there to see and fell in love. Not everyone is like that though. I seriously didn't think I was.

gotta say it was the 4th dress I tried on..had "the moment" heard a choir of angels in the background the whole thing :) but as my consultant said not every bride has that moment...I knew I would though...how do you feel about that? do you feel you will/need to have that moment?

first store, 5th dress on a whim one day when I decided to check out dress stores in the area... it was right down the street so I thought I would go and just see what kind of styles I might like. My neice picked it out and it was one I saw but didnt like on the hanger... dont let the hangers fool you!

5th dress shop, about 30-40 dresses, and 5 months.  It probably would have only taken me 4 dress shops and 3 months if the designer had already designed and released it prior.

Um, the first dress I tried on was the one that I had the moment in. Sadly, it was discontinued and because I'd never been shopping before I didn't know that those sections of stores existed. So then I searched for a dress that looked similar. I decided on a dress that flatters my body most. I love the dress and I feel like a beautiful princess in it.

I tried on 5 dresses at Alfred Angelo, and some were pretty, but generally ho-hum. Then one at a bridal expo - meh. Then the dress, and I couldn't believe how much I loved how it made me look. My friends were wowed, as were the random ppl walking by at the expo. I didn't cry or hear angels or anything. I just couldn't imagine loving a dress more than the one I had on. So I got it.

First day of dress shopping, First dress I tried on. It looked good, Mom was nodding away like a puppet on a string with her eyes all googly big! I tried on 3 more, just to feel like I really was trying to dress shop and not settle for the first dress that looked decent. I didn't hear bells or angels singing. Not everybody gets that reaction. I was in and out of that dress shop in 45 minutes with everything ordered and paid in full. Funny, I thought I'd be more high maintenance then that!

First time dress shopping, fourth dress. It was all a total accident, I went to try on dresses just for fun, so no pressure, and I ended up finding the one!

I am crossing my fingers that I can answer this question after this weekend! I have two dresses that I really like. And of course, they are at two different stores. But I have appointments on Sunday to go try on both of them. I don't think that I am going to have that choir-singing moment, I just don't think I am that kind of girl. One of my BMs swears I will though... I don't know. I will keep you posted! I've only been trying dresses for 2 months though, but I am ready to have it ordered.

1st shop - 3rd dress - I cried.  I do NOT cry.  I wiped the tears, tried to make my face neutral and then walked out to where my mom and BFF was.  They both cried too.  Without knowing I cried.  I definately had "THE" dress.

It took me 4 dress shops and I found it. I had to go home and sleep on it before I knew it was the one!

3rd store on the first day. I probably tried on 30-40 dresses that day, and I tried on about another 5 or 6 after I'd found the one. I cried, but I also didn't want to take it off. I felt fabulous in it.

After looking for 7 months- I couldn't find it. I was tired of searching and I was at 6 monhts before the wedding so I just picked one to get it over with.  That sounds terrible the way I've written it, but what I want doesn't exist at my price point, and in the grand scheme of things it's only one day so I couldn't justify going triple over my budget.

Mine was the fifth one I tried on. I never got that feeling though. I got mine at a sample sale, so it was then or never. It is perfect for the wedding though and I was watching a ton of brided eyeing it and pointing. At that point I decided it was mine :)

I'm getting a customized gown. Different from a custom. I'm going through Victoria Glenn of V Custom Designs in North Seattle. She does AMAZING work and they only start at 1500. But since thats out of my budget  I'm getting a simple base dress then we are customizing that (way cheaper). If you just never get that "AHH ITS THE ONE" feeling like I never could from the dresses in my budget this is another option.
