Doing the seating chart

FI and I have the daunting task of doing our seating chart this weekend.  I'm not looking forward to this at all!  For those of you who've done them already, what did you find was the best way to do it?  Did you use a template online?  I didn't do an online guest list or anything so I can't upload the names and do it that way.  We're not doing assigned seats, just assigned tables.

I put all the guests that were attending on one sheet of paper. {Cut and taped to one sheet, then made a copy so it would all be printed on one page. Made multiple copies.} Then I numbered another page 1-10 for how many tables I had. Then I started with the family tables. And as I'd assign someone to a table, I'd scratch them off of the list.

It worked out well. But we only had like 110 ppl.

Ok so my FI already did his seating chart... for his side of the family. He had me cracking up because he drew the tables out an everything. The wedding isn't until April but  he is done! Now my side.. I haven't done jack! I think my sister and I will do it. My FI said our tables of friends should sit in the same general area of the reception space so single people and married people our age will be in the same general area.

My wedding is in 2 weeks and I still haven't done my seating chart! lol We are going to try to start it this weekend though and like the poster said we are doing assigned tables instead of seats. I think I am going to try to use the template on the Knot, BUT it doesn't let you separate a party......not good if you are having a head table since you can't separate a member of the bridal party from their guest unless you make them two completely separate guests in your guestlist.

Don't worry, I did mine the weekend before the wedding! lol. And I think there is a way to separate the parties on TK.

One thing that works well is to write all the guest names on thin strips of post it notes.  Draw a rough diagram of your table configuration and begin to place the post its at tables.  If you find you need to move someone around, all you have to do is move the post it.

I only have 56 attending so mines was really easy. I thought it was going to be hard, but literally i was done in 20 minutes. I have a room layout and I drew circles of each table and I put the names next to the table they will be sitting at.
