Location, Location, Location (Sorry, Kinda Long)

I visited 4 venues this week and I'm already sick of visiting venues.

The 1st one was a no-go from the start. It's a bed & breakfast with gardens, and I liked the price and the gardens from what I saw online. But when I got there, the B&B smelled funny and the "gardens" looked like someone's unkempt backyard.

I loved the 2nd one because the event manager was great, the ballroom was really pretty, the gardens were nice, and the price was good. An added bonus is that all proceeds from using the place go to hospice to pay for people without private insurance. Drawback, the color scheme of the facility would totally clash with the colors I want for my wedding. They have a brown, ivory, and green motif, and I'm going for pool blue, black, and white.

The 3rd one was ok. I liked the fact they do everything for you, but their gazebo looked a lil low-budget. The reception room was on point though and I love the horse and carriage they have.

The 4th one was all I was looking for until I met the owner. Can we say redneck? He not only acted like he didn't like minorities, but he tried to convince me not to have my wedding at his facility. I was taken aback. He was so rude and I left with a really bad taste in my mouth and so did FI.

After this week, I really don't feel like making any more appointments because it's all so stressful. Frown

All I can say is poor baby. In the beginning stages of planning it does get a little frustrating because it is hard to find "THE ONE" right off top. But hang in there you will find what you are looking for. Where in NC are you located?

And where in the world did you go on your 4th visit that a vendor would actually try to sway you from having your wedding at his facility? That is so bad for business. How rude. wow.

    Thanks ladies.

MrClintonsFirstLady, I live in Durham. But I'm looking for venues between Durham and Shelby because I'm from Shelby. The 4th place was in Indian Trail.

TysWife2Be, I guess I gotta keep pushing through till I find the one like you did.

*hug* I feel your pain as well. You will find the right venue. It's definitely a priority, but not something you rush into because you don't want regrets. It sucks that your favorite place provided you with such poor service and probably most of your frustration. The second place...where is it? What can we do about that gazebo? Hmmm...

eagles, the owners will decorate the gazebo at no extra charge, but the real problem is the gazebo is in the middle of a park with a playground across from it. and i just don't know about having my wedding in a public park.

Don't worry! You'll find the one.  The good thing is you have time on your side.  I looked at SEVERAL different venues before we decided on our venue and I'm happy with our choice.  When you do find your venue, you will feel so relieved and know that the time it took to find it was worth it!
