FMIL Dress Color Help!

Ok ladies well I have my first dress fitting next Friday but I just found out the other day that my FMIL does NOT have her dress yet.  We don't live in the same city so I just assumed she had been looking for a dress all along.  Anyway, she is now going to come dress shopping for herself when I have my fitting but IDK what color she should wear.  I originally told both moms that I wanted them in champagne but FMIL is White and she says that color would wash her out.  OK but my colors are a cornflower blue shade, ivory and touches of yellow. I'm just assuming that if the champagne doesn't work for her the the yellow would be out too - which I didn't plan on anyone wearing anyway.

Suggestions? I really didn't want anyone wearing anythihng dark like navy blue or black. Here is my BM dress for reference on the blue.

Re: FMIL Dress Color Help!

  • You're right. I work with a white lady and she refuses to buy anything yellow because it doesnt go with her skin tone. I like that cornflower blue though. But I don't know if i'd want the moms to match the bridesmaids. What about a soft silver or grey?

  • Have you considered going a shade darker with the blue, this way she's different but doesn't clash in pictures.Going off footballwife77 maybe even a soft gold may work too.

  • I like the idea of the soft silver or gray but the tone has to be right. FMIL can wear the other colors but she would have to find a dress in the right shade to match her specific undertones. If she wants to go more with the blue, I'd consider doing one shade lighter or darker than the BM's dress (which are lovely btw). Or she could yellow...I think it might look better on her than she thinks :)
  • Thanks ladies!
