So I kind of have a dilemma but if you ask FH not really So I had finally decided that I wanted to have a second hotel room in Atlanta that is cheaper for the guest. So I block the hotel and have information about it on the wedding site. My cousin's wife who loves in Atlanta saw it and I guess told him and he seems to think that he can get an even cheaper hotel than the second hotel cheaper hotel. (He is a coach at on of the universities). So the girl at the Double-tree in Buckhead is his home girl and he thinks that we can get the hook-up. So it may be possible to get a suite for us and hotel rooms for the guest for $75 a night (tax free) and free breakfast every morning. The parking is the same as the Loews though. But he seems to think that he can get that waved.

Okay here is the dilemma, If he is able to get all of this should everyone just stay at the Double-Tree including us (I really wanted everyone to stay in hotel, or Should it really matter?). Or should we have that as a block if he can get all of the perks and me, my parents, his mom and who ever else that wants to spend the money to stay at the Loews just stay there while other people are at the other hotel? We get a free suite at the Loews and our parents are paying $70 a night.

Initially I wanted to provide shuttle service for the group that stays at the Loews but they are trying to charge us $1300.00 for 8 hours. But that is so out of our budget! I guess another question is do we have to provide shuttle service when we have free parking and valet parking paid for at the venue? How would you feel about these things if you was a guest at our wedding and you was not from Atlanta?

He thinks that the Loews is going to charge us for our rooms and more for our parents if a lot of people don't stay there. They said that if no one books then we would still get our suite for free. He thinks that there are too many hidden charges. BUT I REALLY WANTED TO TAKE PICTURES THERE THAT WEDDING DAY MORNING.

I would also look at your contract and have them go over all the fees when it comes to wedding there are a lot of hidden fees that they try to throw at you.Its almost like you  need to be a attorney to catch them.

make sure you have a signed contract with both signatures of yours and Lowes, stating that your parents room is that price that was quoted regardless of other guest staying there and that your room is free regardless of the number of people who book there. I do everything in email with all my vendors and if we speak on the phone I send an email after with a summary of what was dicuss and ask for them to confirm with a reply just in case they try to pull hidden fees on me later.  Also you might as well just get the other room block even if you don't get a room block, your guest who don't want to pay for Lowes will eventually find a hotel on their own in their price range. (seems like my guest are trying to do that but they will learn the hard way that I picked hotels that were close at a good price and anything cheaper is a 30 - 40 min drive.)

The best way to find out about hidden charges is to just ask them, most places don't tell you up front unless you ask up front so just asks them every scenario you can think of under the moon and see what they quote

Agree with PPs. Go w/ the hookup but have a backup. If you want pictures at Lowes stay there. You DO NOT want to be driving in circles in ATL traffic on your wedding to get pics, if you're staying there, one less stop. I'm torn about the shuttle service. I personally hate ATL traffic and think it is extremely inconvenient depending on the time of day and day of your wedding. However, I would not shell out the extra money if it is not affordable , most guests expect to drive from one spot to the other and if they do not have to pay for parking then you have done your duty as a bride/ host.

Hi Date Twin - I agree with all the PPs, check your contract and see what it says about Loew's.  Then have your Plan A and B.  I would say no to the shuttle - too expensive!  And honestly you will be hooking people up for real with a $70 room rate with free breakfast, so they can figure out the transportation.  Free parking and paid valet parking is just fine.
