Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

FMIL mentioned the other day that a Bowling Party/Rehearsal Dinner would be fun to plan, and I completely agree (I've been wanting something more beer & pizza rather than black tie).

I've been Googleing my butt off trying to find something that would be similar (Go Karts, mini golf, Game Works-ish, etc) and that is kinda close to the venue (Stanwood)... and I am failing miserably.

Can any of you think of something that:
  • Has physical/fun activities for the guests to partake in
  • Can accommodate 20 to 30 people
  • Is located between North King and North Snohomish counties.
Thank you!!!

There are some places that do laser tag where they can come to your location. This one's based on Shoreline:

I don't know if this is far enough north for you, but there's a place called The Garage in the capitol/first hill area that's probably the nicest bowling alley I've ever been to. I know they host events. http://www.garagebilliards.com/mambo/. Parking can be a challege, but I think this is agreat place!

okay so I don't know seattle or king or snohomoish county very well... so I'm not sure where bellevue square mall is compared to your venue. You might already know of this, but they have Lucky Strike there and we checked it out last time we were in seattle and it seems like a really fun place.. if you don't know of it already here is the link

We have been hosting company parties at Acme Bowl in Southcenter.  They have really good food and have always been very accomadating.  They also have pool tables and a Sports Bar.

    Thanks for all the ideas!

I have a feeling narrowing down a RD venue will be a toughie...  most of the WP live in Seattle and then the venue/ Rehearsal will be in Stanwood ("WAY up North"), so I'm debating what area to have the RD.

Growing up in High School we always had parties at Strawberry Lanes in Marysville. It is your typically bowling alley. Last time I was in there it was pretty decent and fun. I don't think Stannwood has a bowling alley. If you wanted to go the casino route, there is always the Tulip Casino. I am sure they have all sorts of options. Other than that I am pretty sure you are looking at Everett for any other bowling alleys.

For something totally different there's Whirlyball in Edmonds (is that far enough north?).  It really fun!  I'm no help with food though, as I think they only have a snack bar.  Maybe they would let you bring in food from somewhere else.  I haven't been there in over ten years, so not sure if they have made any changes.

Cant' help but just wanted to pipe in that sounds like a fun idea for the RD!

What time is your actual rehearsal are you thinking? Are you inviting any OOT guests to the RD and if so, where are they staying? Because if your rehearsal is up in Stanwood but most people will be staying further South Seattle area, AND if your rehearsal isn't too late in the evening, then I would have the RDactivity party closer south. It's so much easier to drive a little ways before dinner and have a shorter distance after activity to get to your bed then the other way around, IMHO.

Alot of the details are still up in the air, since it's a year away, but I have some ideas:

I was thinking of have a late afternoon/early evening (3:00 to 5:00-ish) rehearsal on Thursday before the wedding (which is on Saturday), then RD following.  FI and I live in Northgate, so everyone could come down to Seattle to see where we live, and have the "fun activity" RD.  Since most of the WP live in Seattle, this might work out.

We are thinking of having a casual, large gtg type event for our OOT guests (which are 99% FI's family)  on the Friday before the wedding.

But this is all if we have the rehearsal on Thursday, and it is still up in the air until I can secure it with our venue (but I figure that a Thurs rehearsal will be easier to sched than one on Fri).  I'm trying to narrow down to 4-ish RD places so I can present the ideas to FMIL (she and FFIL are paying for the RD), and then figure out the details off of her comments, ideas.
