*Kedeisha8, Soon2BSand, and LSAS*

Ok...so here is the deal...

I started off in Accounting back in 2001...
I have been in a Finance Position for the past 6 years...
So I have about 5 years in Accounting and 6 years in Finance...

My current position is a Financial Analyst position, however, my position is NOT the typical Financial Analyst position (budgeting, forecasting, etc).

My Bachelors is in Accounting.

I am looking for the next step in my career.

I am TORN.

I plan on going back to get my MBA and I also want to get my CPA.

I dont know what positions I am not sure what positions I should be applying form.

I dont know if I should go for Accounting positions of if I should go for Accounting positions.

Any suggestions?

HELP! LMAO!

I apologize for being "nosey" but I responded late to your accounting post. I thought I could drop in for some encouragement. I'm in gov't accounting so I may have a different view from private/public. I would say which ever path you chose it is almost necessary now to have your MBA and certifications. A 4 year degree is just not enough anymore. I'm working on that too. As far as which jobs to apply for what did you like best? By nature I LOVE spreadsheets and reconciling. The budget side of projections, analyzing, forecasting is NOT for me honey. But if you like both why limit yourself? When you are applying read the job descriptions. See if it interests you. In this day and age we dont have to pick one job and stay there for 30 years. Not that I'm saying hop all around bur there are many opportunities out there and you don't have to be sentenced to one for life. Lastly, if you are spiritual, pray and ask God for direction. He won't steer you wrong. I hope you find some of this helpful. :)

Hey girl!!! I have to agree with the pp.  Don't limit yourself to certain kind of jobs.  Read the descriptions and decide if that job is right for you and if you like it.  I was in public accounting and recently got laid off and I find that it is hard to get any jobs with just the Accounting the degree so I am in the process of prepping my self to sit the CPA exam.  Almost every job I've seen preferr CPAs, so this is key.

I also recommend that you talk to God so he can direct your path.  After being laid off at the end of April, I did a lot of soul searching.
