Wedding Insurance

Being a dual military couple, and planning so far out (March 2013), I am seriously considering wedding insurance... just in case (all these hurricanes arent helping either)! Does anyone else have wedding insurance, or do you feel secure with the clauses in your contracts? Anyone have insurance company recommendations?

Fi and I did not get wedding insurance. I didn't even know until a few weeks ago that there was wedding insurance. I feel comfortable enough with the contract that we have with our venue that I do not think we would need it.

Wedsafe is a popular company that provides wedding insurance. It only costs a couple hundred bucks or less and can be worth it depending on your individual needs.  Given the recent hurricane that caused major damage on the east coast and the fact that some brides were left with venues that were in ruins, wedding insurance may be something to consider if you live in an area where annual natural disasters are par for the course.  Brides without insurance were left with no recourse if the venue chose not to honor any existing contract or offer any restitution.

I got wedding insurance. It wasn't even an option for me not to get it. While I feel secure with our contracts, there are soooo many things that can happen, (a bride in Vermont would never have prepared for a hurricane and one in DC for an earthquake). So I ponied up the couple hundred bucks with Traveler's insurance for the insurance.  Planning so far out (I'm a end of 2012 bride) I just wanted to be safe not sorry

Thank you for posting this!  I'd considered it when we first started planning but it had slipped my mind.  Houston is infamous for hurricanes (there were a lot of displaced brides when Hurricane Ike hit) and my in-laws have already told me they plan to get sloppy drunk at the reception.  This is a definite must!

Just did a price quote with WedSafe and it's only $250-365 depending on coverage.  Money well spent!
