MOB & MOH- Vent

I love my mommy, I really do! I appreciate her love and support BUT things are starting to add up!

My MOH is my younger sister and she is right along with her lol.

Remember how I decided on not going to the JOP but having a small wedding 30-40 people at most . The ceremony will be at my church and the reception will be in my backyard.

So....they're planning my bridal shower (our couples shower?) and guess where they plan to do it? In Miami...in a mansion! They want the bridal party to spend the weekend filled with spa days, sightseeing etc.

Mommy is like you're my oldest daughter and the first to get married let's do this! I know I should be happy and grateful but all I see are $ signs. *sigh*

FI didn't say anything but I know his cheap behind is thinking, I told you so. **double sigh**

If your mom is paying for it, you should go and enjoy yourself - it sounds like it would be a lot of fun!! If she's expecting you to help, then that's a different story.

I think FI and I would have to pay for our flight. They're paying for everything else.

Awwww honey!  I'm money-conscious (mine and other people's) with the best of them, but I say if she's sponsoring your trip, RELAX and let somebody do something nice for you!  This is a special time and people will want to do things for you even if you'd rather skip all the hoopla (trust me, I know all about that).  Just smile and be gracious.....oh and LOOK YOUR MOST FABULOUS!    Girrrrllll, you can WORK Miami!  lol

Now if she's expecting you to put up some chedda, that changes the game altogether.  You might know better how to proceed once you have some clarity on the money expectations.

I just looked at your date.   if you put $15 a week in that maxwell house can on the stove, you'll have both tickets funded by the time ya'll need to go.   jetblue flies outta jfk and newark but doesn't service miami.  ft. lauderdale and tampa.   keep your eye priceline and travelzoo too.

Sounds like a great trip! But i understand your concerns. When your budget is tight for a wedding even plane tickets outside of your honeymoon can make you feel the crunch.

Maybe it is just me, but I would feel a little strange having a modest wedding / reception but a luxury shower at a mansion. If she is going to do all that, why not a destination wedding at this Mansion?
