Wedding dress/Reception dress

Hey ladies!!!

Are you staying in your wedding dress or changing into something sassy for the reception? My wedding dress is beautiful but a little fitted and heavy and mom thinks a reception dress would be nice.

Personally I don't plan on changing my dress because I can use that money for something else plus I want to get the most out of my dress since I will probably not be able to wear it again.

I am absolutely ridiculous and I want 3 dresses (don't judge meEmbarassed). But I'll never get to wear such fabulous dresses again and I want to rock as many styles as possible!

I am still deciding on whether I want a reception dress or not.  I haven't gotten my gown yet.  I think once I know what my gown will be, then I will decide if I want to switch out of it into a second dress.

I was definitely going back and forth with this but I just can NOT see myself parting with my wedding dress... it's just so beautiful, I am definitely in LOVE! lol! My dress is comfortable (from the fitting I had with the sample, my final fitting is next week!) and I don't think it will be that much of a problem. Plus, reception dress is simply not in the budget!

I plan on wearing one dress...my wedding is only 6 hours so I'm going to stay in my dress till the end...I am having a going away dress but it isn't a wedding dress just something cute to leave in so I can give my wedding dress to my mom since we leave for our honeymoon the next day..

For you ladies wearing a second dress at what point do you change?

I'm not wearing a second dress but, when I was considering it, I saw a lot of posts and recap brides saying they put it on mid-way through the reception or right when all the festivities start (i.e. throwing bouquet, garter removal, etc). Basically, when the bride changes into the reception dress-- it's time to party, no more sappy stuff! lol

Not having a reception dress. After shopping for my wedding gown, I did not want to look for anything else. So I'm sticking to one dress.

    THIS IS SOOOO TRUE!

Also I only get to wear a huge white dress one day in my life and I am going to milk it for all it is worth!

. This exactly! Plus my dress has an optional strap so I'm rocking the strap for a second look at the reception.

I considered doing a reception dress, but I fell in love with my dress and wore it all night. It was a ball gown and while it was big and heavy, once it was bustled I was able to dance the night away without any trouble.  If you do a reception dress, it still needs to be a stunner, you don't want to look like a wedding guest.

I was all for a reception dress! I even went and bought a potential reception dress because it was a good price. But once I found THE DRESS (well I haven't bought it yet), I couldn't imagine parting with that dress on my wedding day! So now i'll wear the other dress to like the B-party or some other event.

I'm changing dresses to incorporate my FI culture into the reception. Even thougth I LOVE my dress, I like the idea of having pictures of me in more than one outfit.

I absolutely love the idea. So far the plan is for me to change into a second dress. It will be my traditional dress to incorporate my heritage. My mom is having the dress made so i hope i like itttt! If not i may just stick to my white dress.

I am so glad someone brought this topic up because I have been battling with this idea all weekend. I even began to start looking for one, but I am not quite sure if its even worth it. Then I started thinking, the time it takes me to leave the reception undo my wedding gown, put on another dress and still make sure I look okay, is time I could be at my reception having fun.
Plus I don't think I would be willing to leave my handsome hubby that night even if its just for a few min.
Darnit!... I just talked myself out of getting a reception dress!

I am wearing my first dress at the ceremony and through the traditional part of the reception - intro, first dance, greeting, changing into 1 dress for the party hour then changing into another dress for the exit and post wedding glamour session, Im also using the 2nd dress for my ttd session

I've seen a lot of brides who buy the second dress never actually change once the momentum of the reception starts. My brides who change for cultural reasons typically do so before they begin the reception in order to make the transition seamless. Other brides have high hopes of changing and time usually gets away from them. If you are planning a change make sure that someone is assigned to help you with the change because you cannot do that alone, let alone quickly. Think about how long it takes brides to get dressed before the wedding, so don't expect the change to be a 5 minute project. Personally I don't plan to change. I bought a dress that was comfortable and easy to wear all night on the front end. I was going to add the shoulder strap for the reception but it's too much with my headpiece. Besides my grandmother let me know she is not a fan of costume changes for brides. LOL

Lol!!! Yes, it is quite a dilemma. I love my wedding dress as well. I haven't even looked at reception dresses and I know if I get one it has to show stopping!!!
