NWR: Vegas hotel recs

I'm taking my FI to Vegas for his 30th bday in October! I'm so excited to do this for him and I would like to keep it a surprise. Does anyone have any good hotel recs? I would like to stay on the strip. I checked out tripadvisor and every hotel had mixed reviews, I know its hard to please everyone but I'm just scared I may book a crappy hotel.

TIA

I haven't been since Oct 09, but I've stayed in the MGM and Venetian. Bellagio & Ceasar's Palace looks nice. I know they built a hotel called Aria (or close to it), which is on the same side as the Venetian. Honestly, it depends on how much you're willing to spend on a room.

I agree with pp, it depends on how much you want to spend.  If you want to be in the middle of the strip Planet Hollywood is nice, Treasure Island, Harrah's or the Mirage are all good and reasonably priced.

Also check out these website's for deals on hotels, its been pretty good.

We went to Vegas last year and we stayed at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.  It was goregous.  The  Bellaigo is a great hotel also.  Do not stay at the Luxor or the one right beside it (can not remember the name), it is a cheap hotel.  My cousin went for a conference and she stayed at the MGM and she enjoyed her stay.

I've just been inspired - I've been wondering what I can do for DH's 40th b-day!  He really wants to go to Vegas, so perhaps I'll check out some of these sites and since his birthday is in December I have plenty of time!

Thanks msapril0730 for your question and all of you for your suggestions!

The Bellagio is PHENOMENAL!  But if you looking to stay somewhere reasonably priced and a little more trendy, Planet Hollywood is right across the street from there.  I also recommend going to see Stomp if you are there.  I know there are tons of other shoes but this one is always good.  Good luck with your suprise for your hubby!!

I love the Mandalay Bay.  Stay away from the Luxor and Excalibur.

The first time I went to Vegas I stayed at Bally's and I was surprised at how nice the hotel rooms were.  The second time I went we stayed at New York New York and loved it.  The rooms had undergone a renovation and it had kind of a swanky feel to it.  The last time I went I stayed at the Wynn.  It doesn't get better than that!

@Jess we will be there 10/6-10/11, someone told me mandalay bay wasn't near or on the strip so that's why I didn't look into that hotel. I'm going to check out google maps to see where it is.

@banks I hope you find a great deal! check out www.bookit.com they offer great deals on hotel and airfare

@kiya I looked at the wynn and it looks so nice

    Thanks again ladies!

Mandalay Bay is at the South end of the strip. Next to Excalibur and NY NY. They also have the Cosmopolitain which opened this past December. There's so many to choose from! Im sure where ever you end up staying you both will have a BLAST!!

I was just in Vegas in December...the Cosmopolitain looks awesome it is so cool in there, they have a bar inside of a big chandelier... we didn't stay there but walking through it...I want to stay next time I go visit.....I also hear that Aria which is also fairly new is a really cool place it is very popular.

If you are willing to stay on the older end of the Strip then The Stratosphere is super nice. They recently remodeled it and its nice. My FI and I stayed in the new Premier Tower and our room was HUGEEEEE! Also if you stay during the week its like $24 a night. We rented a car through Advantage for a great price and we drove everywhere. The bus/tram runs all night also and you can get a 24hr pass for like $7. Of course parking is free at all the hotels.

We stayed at Bellagio for our HM in December and it was awesome! Aria and Cosmopolitan both looked really cool as pp mentioned. Don't know if you have Continental but you can check their deals too: covacations.
