African American Weddings

Brunch menu : Kids room and adults/ Desserts (PIP) and advice needed

For our brunch wedding we're balancing these  groups of people : adventurous eaters (us), vegetarians and strict vegans, jamaicans, country african americans

I'm not trying to be in anyway funny or racist but we know our people don't eat everything and are less willing to try things. Totally the opposite of FI & I

I have been asked by his mom and aunts what will be on the menu and was somewhat lashed when the menu did not include hot links or sausage. Who eats breakfast without that they asked? ummm...... me?

Now I come to you guys here is my menu do you think we need to tweak?

Kids( 3-12):

Cereal bar
waffles or french toast
scrambled eggs
OJ, milk, juice, water

Adults:

Omlette station (with onions, pepper, mushrooms,
Waffle / pancake station
eggs benedict
waldorf salad
chicken marsala
beef filet in truffle black pepper sauce
herb roasted potatoes
green salad
lobster bique
applewood smoked bacon*
smoked salmon

Also  I'm stuck on dessert..... I wanted to have something cool like mini milkshakes or

or milk and cookies

  • So I happen to be free Dec 2nd, 2012..Im just saying. Food looks delicious!

And don't worry about the negative feedback about your menu. I don't understand how folks want to go to a wedding and eat the same things they eat every day! I can't wait to hear the feedback I get when there's no curry anything at my wedding..lol.

Will you have any pastries or bead? Not trying to add stuff just wondering. I guess the waffle/pancake station covers that.

Also I like the idea of the milkshake for desert. Or some sort of mini pie, like apple etc.

So ur not having a wedding cake?

oooooo mini pies!!!!! I freaking love yall....

We are having a wedding cake but I wanted something fun for the guests. Im thinking of having a decoy cake and buying a publix sheet cake to go out with our special dessert.

They gave me the option of a pastry table with danishes and muffins but I said no because I didnt want ppl full off of foolishness and not eating the main meal and dessert. should I get it?

And my offer stands... any AAW knottie free on  December 2nd is invited to my wedding! for real!

We had an adult-only brunch reception.  We're still getting rave reviews about our menu.  I'm sure there were some that stuck to the basics, but we tried to jazz it up a little and have something for everybody.  This was ours:

Seasonal fruit with berries and melon
Mini muffins, Danish, and breakfast breads with butter and jellies
    Bacon and country sausage
Omelet station with ham, onions, peppers, tomatoes, cheese, onions, and mushrooms
    Carved turkey
    French Toast
Buttermilk waffle triangles topped with cornflake crusted chicken strips and finished with a Gran Marnier and orange zest syrup
Grilled Salmon, sautéed spinach, Applewood smoked bacon and grilled tomato on maple toast

    Spring vegetable medley
Roasted new potatoes with caramelized onions and bacon
Juices, Mimosas, Peach Bellinis, and Fruit Smoothies

  • I've got 2 words for you ...road trip!! Girl you already know I'm already in FL and your menu sounds delish even if I am not a vegan or vegetarian. I think you will have plenty to offer your guests. But I know how you feel about country folks. Just yesterday my mom asked what was on the menu because "you know grandma don't eat beef ". Well I love ky grandma very much BUT since no one is handing over any cash the menu will be what we pick. Mind you we are having a buffet with a beef, chicken and fish option

  • i think the menu is good. and why are they complaining? its FREE FOOD.
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • Everyone made excellent suggestions so I agree with most of them.
The only thing I noted is the menu could stand for a little more greenage for the vegans...a lot of them won't eat products from an animal either (such as eggs, cheese, milk, etc).

    But other than that...looks good.

    Pearls687 menu looked so good I wanted to do a back-flip. :)
