Thank you question

Does anyone know if you send thank you cards to everyone who comes to the wedding?  Or just those who brought a gift or card??

Re: Thank you question

  • Only those who brought a gift. Cards alone also do not need a thank you card. The reception is your way of thanking them for coming, sending a thank you note is for the extra gift that they gave you.

  • According to what I've read on E, you are only supposed to give a thank you card to those who gave gifts or money, for the reason PP gave.

I was still considering sending thank you cards to everyone, just because I want to, but I also have read that sending a thank you card to people who did not give a gift may be interpreted as trying to guilt someone who did not give a gift. So I will go with what etiquette states and send it to only those who give a gift, I guess. I would hate for those guests who don't give a gift to feel awkward or offended.

  • From what I understand, thank you cards go to people who gave a gift or money.  For the others, the reception is the thank you.
  • I was going to send thank you for people who gave gifts. I'd think it'd be harder to track down every single person that was there (some may be no shows or some people may randomly show up- it happens around here). But I think you should do what you want!
