I think they are totally unnecessary, but (grain of salt) I'm still making them.

But I totally agree with my best friend who is also planning her wedding (and also having programs): people will just throw them away anyway.

I'm making them, but I don't think you have to, especially if you aren't having a complicated or long ceremony.  If you want to acknowledge your WP, you could have a sign or something near the beginning of the aisle listing their names and titles.

no, you don't need them..but i do know people expect them...try making enough for about 1/3 or less of your guests..and don't pass them out. just leave them sitting, and those that want them, can pick it up.

I made programs...pretty stellar ones if I do say so myself... ;)  They had wedding mad libs in them as well for guests to paste in the guestbook.  Yes, most guest probably don't even take them home, but I know for sure that my family saved theirs - and appreciated them.

My feelings so far are that most wedding related paper products are a waste. We are only printing invitations, and just buying blank thank you cards in our colors, but we are also planning a super short ceremony so people will hopefully not feel lost. Smile

I don't believe they're necessary, but they can be helpful - we had a Catholic wedding, and since the majority of our guests weren't Catholic, i thought we needed them to explain what was going on and what certain things meant.
