Where can I shop for bridal lehengas in NYC??

Hey, im new to this website. I am getting married on July 1, 2011 and I have been engaged for about a month. I have started planning the hindu ceremony but I have no clue where to begin looking for bridal lehengas or sari's. I live in NYC does anyone have any suggestions?

Congratulations on your engagement and welcome!

I don't know about NYC but I know in Edison, NJ - Oak Tree Road there are TONS of shops.  I used to live in NYC but now live in Boston but bought all my clothes there.  (It is the Metropark stop on the NJT).   I actually just got back from there today - I went for my final fittings and picking up clothes.I have listed places below along with my experience

Seasons: bought the sari I wore to my sister's wedding there 5 years ago and brought it back to be re-fit as I am wearing for my rehearsal dinner.  They are really very nice and professional... though they are pricey.

Om the Origin: reasonably priced and a good selection.  I bought my panetar from there.  What is great if you like a design but want different colors they can do that.  Pratima there is very nice and helpful.

Gorgeous Studios: I bought my Garba outfit for my sister's wedding and also the reception outfit for my sister's wedding from there 5 yrs ago.  And bought my reception outfit for my wedding from there.  Really unique, one of a kind clothing.  More modern designs available too - the outfit I got for my sister's reception I have worn 3 other times - for a friend's wedding and for a couple of black tie events.  Vinita the owner is really sweet.  It is a bit more pricey.

    Good luck

There's a lot of Indian stores along Liberty Ave, Queens/Richmond Hill  NYC

Also, for New Jersey / New York, check out this website for locations:
