Prayers for my relationship with my mother...

I am normally a private person so I don't want to reveal too much, but my mother and I are going through a bit of a rough time in our relationship.  It has to do with money more than anything else, but it's not wedding related money, it's other stuff.  That's really all I can post online, but any encouragement you have to offer on the subject would be well appreciated.  Prayers too... if I could be so bold as to ask for that.  Thanks!!!

I hope things work out.  I know relationships with mothers can be difficult at times.  I just got in an argument with my mom last night--though not serious, it had to do to the fact that she never listens to me.  Just remember that your mom loves you a lot!  My fiance gave me good advice last night when I told Ihim I fought with my mom. He advised me to apologize and send her a card in the mail to make up for it.  He said that's the Christian thing to do, and it gives us practice in patience so that all of my relationships can be strong.  I might do that today.  Good luck!

My Mom and I have had a rocky relationship over the years - and ever since I moved out of my house officially after college it has gotten so much better. We're sorta like the Gilmore girls... except shes married to my Dad Since I don't know your situation I can't offer much insight but I can say that if you and your Mom love each other a lot (which it sounds like you do... or you wouldnt be asking for prayer!) I promise if you work at it, it will get better. Just always be as understanding as you can be, and in return you will likely get the same treatment. I will say a prayer for you - I hope things get better.

Whenever I get really frustrated with my mom, I think about my friend who lost her mom to cancer when she was about 27.  It is those times that I realize how blessed I am to still have her in my life.  Of course I don't know what you are going through, but I know this has helped me.  And prayer, of course.  I hope things get better and I will pray.

Thanks ladies... I will share a little more.  Pastor always says pray with specificity... so maybe this will help:

I'm a music educator in NC employed this year at only 60% pay, no health coverage, no retirement, etc. -- This is my 4th year teaching and without sounding cocky, I know what I'm doing, to a a degree.  I also have a Master's degree in Teaching, and there are a LOT of part-time teachers in NC because of the education funding crisis. 

Being at 60%, I work about 3.5 to 4 hours per day, usually start by 12 and leave by 3:30 or 4.  I've looked for part-time jobs for a while, and either no one is hiring, or they want me after school gets out - or evenings, or Sundays.  

As a musician, my evenings tend to be filled by professional and volunteer music performance opportunities, many of which have turned into paying gigs over time.  It's hard to break onto the instrumental music world where the paying gigs are, and you have to put in your dues to get there.

Well... I started teaching in another county 4 years ago and bought a house there because the housing market was fairly good, less than  6-month turnover, even in the most rural of places in the state.  I bought with confidence... then my job moved and I had to relocate.... to my PARENTS' house!  I put my house on the market, moved, and ... then the housing market crumbled.  The house has STILL not sold... this is going on year 2 to 2.5 now. 

I'm putting the house into the hands of a property management company soon so they can just rent it out and I can be essentially "done" with paying for a house I don't live in.  

Mom and Dad have NOT had to help me financially until this school year, because I've been employed full time up until this school year.  Now, they've given me about $950 in extra $$ to make it through until my job goes full-time in the January-June semester (essentially 100% pay plus benefits but only for half of the school year, again, right now I'm 60% pay no benefits, fewer hours).  I have been saving EVERY penny, not going out to eat EVER, I decreased my cell phone plan, I don't drive somewhere unless I really need to, etc.  I have decreased my expenditures to the bare bones wherever possible.  

Anyway.... They told me that the $$ they gave me had no strings attached, and I didn't have to repay them, but I did tell them that I could not just accept that $$ without some repayment plan, and I will be paying them back once my job goes full time in the spring (hopefully!!!) ---- but in the meantime, I need part-time work to supplement my pay NOW.  I've actually applied at 2 places as of TODAY, and hope to begin working in the AM hours before I have to report to school.  

I think Mom is stressed out FOR me, and knows that I'm struggling, but I put a happy face on it, because I am still managing to put aside a little dough every month for the upcoming wedding and post-wedding costs.  I think because I've kept quiet about my circumstances, my phone calls to the various property management offices by the townhouse, and my part-time job searches ... well I guess what I mean to say is that since I haven't TOLD her every step that I've taken, she perceives it as NOT DOING ANYTHING.  So... anyway, we're going to sit down and talk later this week.  I emailed my mom and dad just a little while ago about my application at the two places I'm hoping will hire me, and dad replied "good" (he always replies short while at work).

ANYWAY.... so this is basically the story, without getting into the nitty gritty of stuff that I wouldn't even write out if I had a private journal...  

Thanks for your support.  I am a huge fan of Twila Paris, and Casting Crowns, so I'm going to hit up YouTube later today to hopefully find something useful.

BTW... I have to go to my townhouse to adjust the heat and a/c for the new season (as it gets cold again), so I'll be doing that probably Saturday evening / Sunday, and turning it into a 2-for-1 trip because one of my bridesmaids lives near there, so we're going to go to David's bridal to look around for the first Time!!!
