I sent FI a text this morning at an inhumane hour (5:45am) because that is when he is up getting ready for work. I don't even know why I was up since I stayed up til 1:30am reading a book...anyway. I just sent him a good morning, have a good day, I love you text. He replied love you too but then...he told me that his great grandmother had passed away during the night. I had posted about her health briefly on this board before, but a quick catch up: his great grandmother was extremely lucid and self sufficient as anyone could be at 99 years old. But she fell and had to have a hip replacement a few months ago. Since then her health went downhill as she contracted an infection that at that age, it is just too difficult to fight off. Her physical health deterioated very quickly and in the past few weeks, her mind was going as well. FI flew up to PA a few weeks ago to see her one last time (as they knew the end was approaching for her) so he got to say his goodbyes. It was more just waiting for the time to come. The time was last night. FI is fine, he's been down here for years so he didn't see her or talk to her often and at 99 it was expected. I just ask you to pray for him and his family as they lay her to rest, particularly FMIL as her grandmother basically raised her.
