Why did you choose your date?

We chose our date (June 25) because it falls on my parents' anniversary AND my grandparents' anniversary! We're the third generation to carry on the June 25th date. We hope to make an acknowledgement to them during the reception. My grandparents are around 53-54 years married (not sure), and my parents I think are at 29 or 30 years as of June 25.

We got engaged in April of last year (my engage-iversary is coming up!)   It was by process of elimination!

-We knew we needed around a year to save the money, give or take a few months.
-We both knew we didn't want a summer wedding... it's just TOO DANG HOT!!! lol
-Spring is too close to other gift-buying events (like my birthday) so we decided on Fall.
-I was under the impression that October was considered an "off-peak" month, so I thought we'd get better pricing.  (I found out later that most places start off-peak pricing in November.  D'oh!)

So that's how we arrived at the first weekend in October!

Ours also was process of elimination.

Summer because I'm in grad school and summer is wayyy easier

Then we found a reception place and picked from the dates they had available. July 24th it is!

*Jacki - everywhere I looked for some reason had June and October totally booked, well over a year in advance. I guess fall weddings are the new thing!

Favorite One - my sister and my parents were both married on 6/25!  That is so neat that you are the third generation to pick that date.

We picked our date because I fell in love with a venue and it was the best date they had to offer us.  We got married in October in upstate NY and the fall foliage was amazing.  We originally wanted to get married in May or June but I'm so glad we waited.

Tailspin, I've actually found that!  Luckily, I had a 1 1/2 year engagement and I got to work right away, so I didn't have to fight for any vendors.  But 10.10.10 is like, the most popular date ever, so I couldn't sit back and think vendor's would just come naturally!!

Our wedding will be about one month after our college graduation (some of my roommates have gotten married the week after graduation, and they were just so stressed with finals and finishing up wedding plans, that I decided I could wait a little longer), so we planned for the middle of June, which will give us most of the summer to get settled into wherever he finds a youth pastor position and before I start a teaching job (praying I can find one next year wherever God leads us).
The date significance (6/11) is that my grandfather helped build the Norfolk & Western steam locomotive, 611.  He passed away 7 years ago from cancer, so I knew I wanted that to be my wedding date.

No significance for us whatsoever.  We got engaged 12/31/09 and wanted to get married in the summer so that we could just get a start on life together.  Summer because my fiance's a teacher and it makes travel easier in this part of the country.  July 9 was date that had the right venue, so we chose it!  It's only five days after my parents' anniversary, though.

December 3 because we both love christmas time and winter but didn't want it to be too close to christmas where it could possibly interfere with other festivities

Our original date was on December 30, 2010 b/c it's our 5th year marriage anniversary (we didn't have a wedding) But then I got pregnant so we changed it to our original anniversary March 25th. It kind of sucks though, cause I ended up loosing the baby. But the the wedding is still on!

    October 30, 2010.

    Well...

We got engaged on 12/25/09, so I knew I needed about a year.

I picked out 10/30/10 or 1/1/11, but we ended on 10/30 because

    1) January weather & snow can be so unpredictable for traveling (my wedding is about 1 & 1/2 hours from my house)
    2) My birthday is 10/31
    3) Easier to book our church for that day

We originally wanted 10.16.10 badly because our anniversary is 9.16.08 (he proposed on our 1st anniversary). And besides, my sister just got married 10.17.09, and then my parents is 10.18.80. We would have all been in a row. But since the place I really liked turned out to not be available (a girl put her deposit in two days before I checked the place out!) I went with the week before! 10.9.10 here we come! Besides, it'll be nice to be on our HM on my birthday. :)

once i decided on puerto rico, where he is from, it was basically a process of whittling away.  dont want summer or winter. . .. autumn is my fav time of year, expect in pr where there isnt the autumn im used to.  so, looked at dates in sept, oct, and the very beginning of nov.  didnt want it too close to holidays (my bday is in there), so decided on 9-10-10.  but then the venue chosen didnt have any saturdays available, so, we arrived to 10-10-10

We started dating on Feb. 2, we were engaged on Aug. 2, and my FI's bday is Nov. 2, so we chose July 2, 2011 because it was the 2nd, it fell on a Saturday, and it's during summer vacation for my FI who is an elementary school teacher. We thought it would be easier for him to remember and I like the 2nd, also.

We picked July 9 because my FI and I are going to a confrence the week after and he is from Belgium so he needs to take that time off work so we put everything together so he can come to the States for the wedding and confrence/honeymoon time and then we fly back to Belgium together.

Plus I've always wanted an early summer wedding.

We picked 21 August 2010 because we wanted to chop off about 10 months from our original plans (June 2011). By the time we get married, we'll have been engaged for 6 months and that is waaaay too long in our estimation. We originally changed our plans to December, but then we decided that that was too long, too, so we moved things up to August.

We would've gone with June of this year, but my MOH is leaving the country until about a week and a-half before the wedding as it is (I knew she was going away when I asked her), and we need time to recover after finals before getting married. The 21st is just under two weeks before classes start again, so while that's kinda lame, it really is the earliest we could've done.

I always wanted to get married in the fall, especially when all the leaves are turning.  I thought it would be great for pictures and the weather is just beautiful that time of year here.  Then it kind of worked out from there.  I didn't want a Halloween wedding and I have a friend getting married 10/2/10 and wanted it a couple weeks after that.  So we chose 10/23/10.

Wanted a summer wedding bc the only guarenteed warm months in Ohio are June July and August. Also knew we would be living out of state due to FI's job and our time off from work was limited. FI's sister graduates from college the week before our wedding, so it kills 2 birds with one stone by being home for the entire week.

It is also significant bc FI helped me move into my first apt June 19, moved out 2 yrs later on June 19 and we are getting married June 19, 2010!

We both are terrible with dates, so I wanted a date that was easy to remember. I love fall, so our original date was Sep 25, 2010. My brother's birthdays are the 28th and 29th of that month, so I thought it would be nice to have them around near their birthdays as well.  But we decided that was too long to wait, so we are having a 3 month engagement and getting married May 1st. I love spring as well and its an even easier day to remember.

Its 9 days after I graduate!  With everyone coming into town for my graduation I hated making them pay for 2 plane tickets a month a part so we are just having them close together.   We were going to do 3 days after I graduate, but we live in a small college town so my guests wouldn't be able to get hotel rooms.

we chose Feb 21 as it was the last saturday before Lent started and we wanted to marry off season to save money (and boy did we save, especially on photog).  around here (new england) summer is still very popular, and fall is ridiculously popular so that really only left january/february and then late April before prices went way up.

Our original date was May 22nd because we didnt want anything too close to FI's birthday (July) or mine (January) but...with all of our family coming from out of town...it just wasn't going to happen! All the kids were still going to be in school until at least June 24th. I didnt like the way 26th sounded, and didnt want to do it on July 3rd because it would have been the fourth of july weekend...so we opted for the weekend after...July 10th!

FI is happy because he wanted it in July...but we live in Florida... so hopefully its not TOO hot at 6pm (yea right! LOL)

We picked July 10th because out of the dates availible @ our venue it was the one that didn't have any other anniversarys attached...My sister's is the saturday before, and when i suggested it, she said "no, that's my day", my brother's is two weeks after, and the week after already had we wedding scheduled at the venue.  So, the 10th it is!

I know that is super exciting right???

I chose my date because the wedding had to be after I was baptized Catholic at Easter and then because I didn't want to use the churches Easter flowers (you have no way of knowing in advance what colors they will be using), I decided to have my wedding the first weekend after Pentecost, which turned out to be Memorial Weekend, so I bumped it out one more weekend and ended up with June 5.  I also wanted it before my birthday in July.

    got engaged april 2009.
i'm in school so we knew it would have to be during winter or summer break. winter break was too crazy with all the holiday stuff. so that meant summer break. semester ends first week in may. second weekend is my birthday. third weekend our friends were getting married (and we're in each other's bridal parties). fourth weekend was free.
can't get married on that saturday becuase the church we are getting married in has saturday evening services. so that meant the friday. so may 28, being the first available day, became our wedding date.
