Wedding Woes

I could go for a pop-off

I am in such a mood today. It's probably a good thing some of my teleconferences got cancelled today, otherwise it would have been rage central on those calls.

Are you trying by calling me an ass?  I know I'm being an ass about it.
  • I'm not trying, it's just getting old. If you say something about your IL's that's nice, it's always tempered with something else about them that isn't. It gets old. I could spend a bajillion days complaining about my IL's too. I know the feeling. But at some point, you either have to just shut and say this is how it is, what is the point of saying anything about it or you can keep complaining and I'm going to say that it gets old.
  • I ate all of your grits!

  • I'm annoyed at all the tiptoeing around foreigners being all up in your personal space from some of the responders to your RPOTD.  Let's not take anti-xenophobia so far that we start denying the obvious, okay?

please elaborate, kuus. who tiptoed. TIA
  • I thought there was going to be a bigger popoff on my local, but it fizzled.  People on my local are too nice because there's a higher chance of meeting IRL.  Booo.
  • Barbie started the tiptoeing, and then every response after hers was a shying away from the foreigner topic (except mine, of course, because I'm awesome like that).
    image
  • oh, foreigners are bad - I don't disagree on that. I was just pointing out that americans suck too.
  • As$h0les are as$h0les regardless of where they come from.

    You like my creativity there?

  • See, that right there is what I'm talking about.  Different cultures have different expectations for personal space.  That's a VERY REAL THING.  Why are you acting like it doesn't exist?

  • OT: I am pissed at the Chick-Fil-A debacle mostly because I don't want to be shamed for eating their gay hating nuggets. My own personal ethics won't let me support their company though. I'd kill a space-invading foreigner for some lemonade and nuggets though.

Dude...All I can think about is a #1 with extra pickles and their waffle fries.  I want CFA to get out of the media I can stop thinking about it.

Americans up in my grill annoy me more than foreigners. i figure it's ingrained in other cultures (i can't imagine the nightmares of a Japanese commuter train ride) - but in my mind Americans should "know better."

in that case, shouldn't this be "factual post of the day" instead of an RPOTD?
    image
  • Possibly, hmo, possibly.  Does it count as real or factual when I correlate the nationalities who have limited ideas of personal space with those who have limited ideas of personal hygiene?
    image
  • Well I called it racist, because. I don't have facts (and not just the made up Internet kind) to support my statements.
  • you might need cdc/nih funding for that one.

it kills me to throw away my chik-fil-a coupons but i can feel the eyes of kermit on me, so i will.

i have no idea what happened with chik Fil A. i just recently learned how to pronounce it. we don't have many fast food options.
  • I had to give up on In N Out because of their nonsense, and I really hate to that Chick-fil-a is doing this to me too. I am taking this as a personal affront to ME. Do you hear that Dan Cathay? It is an assault on me!
  • I'm just smelly, yo.

kuus, i am de-sensitied to pmeg's airport rants on foreigners. i find this to be an issue with rude people in general.

  • I can see that, I guess, maybe.  I don't have much airport experience.  I do, however, have a lot of experience with foreign scientists who (as far as I can tell) mean well.

I don't have the citation, but there was something in my diversity manuals about this.  Americans like 8-10" of personal space and Eurpeans tend to the 6" range.
  • Pmeg:

Foreigners are new the old people, huh?

I do now want a list of the political and charitable donations of every restaurant and retailer in America. Somehow, lots of people were unaware of CFA being nay for gay until 2 weeks ago, but it's been pretty freaking obvious.

I will be VERY sad if Wendy's turns out to be in the same boat. VERY sad.

  • People in general are on my nerves. I need a private pilot's license, a Cessna, and a better job that can pay for jet fuel instead of commercial travel.
