How did it go yesterday?  Painful or not so bad?

I did not get smooshed yesterday then.   Sorry for using that phrase.  I had NO IDEA since I don't watch such trashy TV shows.   ;)

It was not bad at all.   The only part of it that was even uncomfortable was feeling my skin pulling from my chest to my neck.   That was odd.   And you have to stand in really awkward positions.   But the actual "smooshing" part did not hurt at all.   I'm a D-cup, so I'm positive that helps.

The place I went was a new medical center and they had a specific Women's Imaging Center.   It was like a mother f-ing spa in there!   Fountains, relaxing music, aromatherapy, private little dressing rooms with a locker.   A lounge area for while you are waiting in your hospital gown.    It was SO nice and not at all the cold atmosphere I expected.

And they put these pasties things over your nipples.   There is a metal ball (almost like a BB) attached so that the film will show where your nipples are located.   That was weird and funny/   I kept them on to show DH later.   But by that time the sticky had come off and they were laying in my bra.

It sounds like the atmosphere alone would help ease someone's reservations.

Years ago, my mom described the place she goes as "cold, stainless steel everywhere, bright lights."  Thanks mom!

When will you get the results?

They'll call me within 2 days if there are any issues.   Otherwise, they'll send the images to my doctors to keep on file and send me a letter in about a week.
I'm not anticpating any issues, particularly  since my GYN just felt me up last week, but you never know.

My mom's cancer wasn't detected on her mammogram, but a cyst was.  Her tumor ended up being behind the cyst, so when they biopsed the cyst they ended up getting a sample from the tumor.   The test came back as cancerous, they did a lumpectomy and that's when they figured out the the cyst wasn't the cancer and that there was a tumor behind it.   At that point they ended up removing the whole breast.    It was a miracle/blessing/awesome coincidence that she had the cyst.  :)

So anyway, I know that the mammogram won't completely rule out cancer for the time being.
