Wedding Woes

and for the record, I HATE bring your kid to work day

I know it can be useful in some jobs.
But ehre?
here it's disruptive.

You're a college student, your kid does NOT need to skip school to go to school with you if they can't sit quietly.
And even if they CAN sit quietly?  they cannot friggin come in the labs.  Not the computer lab.  Not the math lab, and REALLY not the science labs--it's NOT SAFE.
And, yes, I know you're an employee, you STILL cannot take Beauford into the chem lab--just...NO.

And passing the kids off to other coworkers is a lousy thing to do.

  • my old company used to limit the number of kids, and plan an all-day activity for them.

since i work for a chemical company they do science-y/educational things like "make slime", have a bridge/airplane/egg drop contest, etc., provide lunch, etc. I am based out of an office - not a plant - so i'm not sure what (if anything) they did at the plants. I can't image it's much for safety reasons.

I'm not sure what the company who bought us does. I'll probably find out next year when I'm working out of the TX office.
  • My cw brings her children to work on a regular basis. All three of them. It is annoying as all get out. It is even more irritating when her husband comes in too. This is not a living room, it is an office.

  • Why are all 3 children and spouses coming to the office? That seems really inappropriate.

  • Some of my co-wrokers randomly bring their kids or grandkids into the office anyway.  There are a few kids I recognize on sight.

I'm with Min.  The office is not an extension of your living room.  Especially when your kid is running around with no shoes on.
  • lovehine - this is a really relaxed office. While I love wearing jeans all the time, I don't appreciate her bringing her children to work when they are sick. That part, I really, really hate. Two of them had the swine flu and she brought them here. And guess who else got the swine flu? Me.

People also being their dogs to the office. I prefer the dogs to the children.

  • My boss brings his children in from time to time, and they were here this morning.  I don't mind them.  They are well behaved and know their place.  I went into boss' office and M was reading a book while C was dusting and rearranging boss' family photos.

  • My dad's office is doing bomb-sniffing dog demonstrations for tyctwd. I wish I could still go to work with him.

My company used it as a chance to do market testing on their educational products. I'm pretty sure the kids would have rather been in school.
