I never had a problem with leakage...I am too anxious to let that get by me.
Well, one time when my periods were coming like a tsunami, I leaked through my pants on the way to school. I only had to scurry from my car to my office and changed into a pair of yoga pants I had in my desk.
The Story: I went to Girl Scout camp practically every summer from grade school to high school. One summer, I started my period when I was there. I had my supplies, so that wasn't the issue. The issue....my mom had toxic shock so she would never buy us tampons, and at the time, I didn't have money of my own, so all I had was pads.
Well, swimming is a big part of summer camp, so this was going to be a problem. When the counselor said it was time to swim, I said I can't. She asked why, and I said, "I'm on my period." She laughed and said no one had ever made that announcement so calmly. I asked how people normally tell her, and she said, while they are crying.
I was proud of myself in that moment.
