Wedding Woes

And I have pissed away a full hour

Woke up early to get some work done.  Even took myself to Panera so I wouldn't get dragged into the morning routine.  In the hour I've been here, I have:

* sent a friend a long FB message
* answered 4-5 WW posts that really didn't contribute from my input at all
* played a round of Angry Birds
* tweeted about what I'm doing today
* updated my FB status

fucketyfuck.  My psychiatrist appt is on the 16th - can't come soon enough.  I wonder if I can get an adderall pump that I can just click throughout the day.

Re: And I have pissed away a full hour

  • DG, I love that you sound so much like DH.  Not that I wish nonproductivity on you, but it's reassuring to see that behavior in someone else.  I can't count how many times he's announced that he's getting up early and getting straight to work, and when I pass him on the sofa he's reading some Wikipedia article on Kim Jong Il or something.  (=/= work)

Hang in there.  Help is on the way.
  • I don't see how this is any different than most of my mornings, but I wouldn't consider myself ADD or anything.

Good luck with the rest of your day!

  • angry birds = most addictive iphone game of all time. :)

I finally did get to focus for about 35 minutes. But now I have to leave and do other stuff.

At least I'm not speaking until this afternoon and can sit in the back of the room and finish my presentation.

    Thanks, all!

  • I was going to say that I'm impressed you only played twelve rounds of angry birds.  I can easily lose an hour or two to that game.  Although once I got to the higher levels that are too hard for me, I quit sneaking DH's i-touch so that I could have alone time with it behind closed doors.

  • And I do this every day, too.  Only you can know if it is bad enough that you need to be medicated, but I frequently have 20 windows open on my computer jumping back from one to the other.  If I hit "submit" on a report request and it will take a whole 2 seconds to pull it up, I always end up distracted somewhere else and my report has timed out by the time I get back to it.  I just have to set micro-goals for myself to get anything done.

  • This sounds like my daily life.

    1.  Make to-do list
    2.  Ignore to-do list
    3.  Do 1 thing on list
    4.  Cover list in papers on desk
    5.  procrastinate
    6.  procrastinate
    7.  end of day

    oops.

  • It sounds like most of my mornings.

I typically wake up around 7:30, lay in bed with DH, make it out onto the couch, drink a cup of tea, watch GG or Today while surfing the web, and get ready at the last possible moment.

  • = story of my life.

btw- applause you for actually finding a psychiatrist. A GP can prescribe you Adderall or Stratterra (it's usually reccomended for adults) but you don't it if you aren't positive that you have ADHD. Plus now cognitive therapy is an option, that wasn't when I was a kid.
