DH and I recently had mini- physicals for life insurance. We got the blood test results back last night. My LDL cholesterol was 251! Last time I had it checked, it was like 160 or something ridiculously low. Granted, I am fatter now (even pre-preg) and eat just about the worst diet in the universe, but damn!So I was freaking out a bit. Not so much about orphaning my children, but that our life insurance premiums would skyrocket. Then I did some reading and apparently pregnancy throws off your cholesterol readings like mad and that most people won't even test it during pregnancy because it's so wacky. (something about estrogen and liver function. IDK.)Phew! I mean, I *do* need to lay off the french fries and get on the elliptical, but at least I'm (probably) not at death's door. I just hope the life insurance company doesn't use this as a big excuse to jack up the premiums.
