Recommend your bridal salon

Hey ladies,

I'm still fairly new to Seattle and so I have no idea where to go!  I live in Redmond and my mom will be in town Sat-Tues so we are hoping to get a dress then.
So far I have appointments at Demetrios in Bellevue and Amanda's Bridal in Redmond.  My budget is $1500 or less (hopefully lots less!)

Recommendations for fun place to go that have a good selection?

Also, I've been told there is a huskies home game Saturday - should I focus on staying out of Seattle on Saturday afternoon?

The bridal salon where I bought my dress is I Do Bridal (located in the Wallingford neighborhood).  I had a good experience there, and most dresses are under $1,000.

Yes, there is a Huskies game at 12:30 pm on Saturday.  I would avoid going through the U-District during that time- specifically Montlake BLVD NE and NE 45th, imo.

You don't need to avoid all of Seattle because of the Huskies game. You just need to avoid the University District at least an hour or so before the game and then for a good length of time after the game. DURING the game, you can get through there with just a little more traffic than usual. Likewise, 520 (easiest way from Redmond, oh, but you knew that XD ) is to be avoided the hour and a half before the game coming West because of the back-up at Montlake.

I Do Bridal is a popular destination although I didn't have such a great time there. I thought Pearls & Lace in Burien had a good selection and pricing, but they are more hands off (I like but some people don't).

DO NOT go to Demetrios in Bellevue!  I was MOH for my MOH's wedding a few years ago and they had horrid service and based on reviews on Yelp and Citysearch, last I looked, they aren't much better.  Amanda's in Redmond has good reviews.  I worked with Bridget at I Do and she did an awesome job on me (my budget was under $1k).  Another good place to go is Cynderellie's Closet, but schedule an appointment with Denise (I think is her name?  It's the owner).

Are you allowing room in the budget for alterations as well?  If not, then I would aim to tell them you need to stay under $1200 (most alterations run about $250-300 average).  Be sure to build in some buffer time for travel between appts, wear a strapless nude colored bra and regular panties, and bring a bottle of water and snacks if you tend to get cranky/make rash decisions when hungry.

Agree with pp on the reviews on Demetrios - I have heard horror stories about that place...not just bad service, but messed up orders!

I Do Bridal is popular (I had a nice experience there), but I ended up buying my dress at Alfred Angelo in Southcenter. They have soooo many dresses, and really affordable prices.

I don't know if you want to go as far south as Tacoma, but I LOVE The Wedding Bell in Tacoma.  The ladies were very nice and oh so helpful.  I love a different part of 2 different dresses and after my appointment they were emailing me lots of different dress options that were similar to what I was looking for.  Above and beyond what I expected.

I didn't buy my dress from them, but I absolutely LOVE the girls at I Do Bridal. Which reminds me, I need to make an appointment with them for a bridesmaid dress.

As for avoiding that area. Huskies game or not, NW 45th is a mess most times after 9AM and prior to 7PM. Give your appointment a good 10 minute buffer time just in case if you do go to I Do Bridal. We live down in Frellard and 45th is the route we use least to get out of neighborhood though it seems like it should be the most convenient. ._.

WRT the Huskies, as long as you avoid 520 and the university district. I-5 tends to be backed up a little bit on game days. If you're going to Northgate just allow for extra time. Downtown, Westlake, and Southcenter should have more or less normal traffic.

If you haven't seen it yet, the state DOT has a nice website where you can look at current highway traffic conditions:

I got my dress at Brides by Demetrio is Bellevue and I have nothing but good things to say about that place.  The entire time I was there I was treated as if I were the only bride there even as they got busy.  They called me once a ship date was presented, I have not gotten my dress yet, but in no way am I concerned with it being wrong.  So hopefully the bad reviews are in the past..

I also got my dress and bridesmaids dress at Demetrios is Bellevue, and I was in a wedding that got her wedding dress and bridesmaids dress there. Before I bought my dress, I had been to practically every bridal salon in the greater seattle area. I have only had a great time at Demetrios and they always rememeber my name when I come in and my voice when I call. (maybe they have caller id)

I liked Amanda;s in Kirkland because of their selection (even though it was small, they had a lot of maggie sottero dresses which is on the reasonably priced side) but they didnt give me much attention when I had an appointment. I also LOVE le belle elanie by the space needle. But they were much higher priced.

Demertrios had by far the biggest selection that I had noticed, next to ilke david bridal.

and... if you ask about sales they might give you a discount. They also have an amazing alteration lady who comes in on Mondays. She can do wonders! They will even alter a dress to look completely the way you want it. Not all brands will allow you to alter you dress too mcuh in case in "compromises" the design. But Demetrio's allows you to alter it as much as you can with the dress still looking good :)
