Tacoma Wedding Show this Weekend...Worth Going?

Hey everyone! My mom wants to go to the Tacoma Wedding show this weekend and I was just wondering, do you think it'll be worth it? I went to the south sound wedding show (at the Great Wolf Lodge) a little while ago and it was very disappointing! I also went to the Seattle Wedding show this year, and was very impressed (a little overwhelmed, too). What do you think? Thanks for all your help :)

The one in tacoma is put on by a different company than the one in Seattle...bride's club I think?  I went to the "fall" wedding show in Seattle that was put on by brides club and it was the biggest waste of money and time.  I got NOTHING from it.  Majority of the vendors were photogs which I already had booked.  NOT ONE cake vendor...which that is one whole reason to go, lots of yummy cakes!  But Penguin windows was there.  Seriously, how are windows wedding related? I mean I know after/before many weddings couple purchase homes...but I'm not looking for windows at a wedding show.  So if it's bride's club who is putting it together, I vote skip it.

I saw Penguin Windows at the South Sound wedding show a couple months ago. I was kinda offended by them being there, too. Seriously, what the hell do windows have to do with weddings?

Yea, the one expo I went to was at the T-Dome (in their exhibition center) and it wasn't great.  I did find my dress there, but I bought it from a disreputable vendor that I'd never recommend to anyone (I didn't know at the time!  I love my dress, though, so I'm good).

Bottom line - it was fun to people watch, but if you're looking to actually pick good vendors, I'd go to the Seattle one for that.

Nothing.  Another vendor told me that they stopped doing the expos put on by the company that does the Tacoma expo because the company couldn't bring in enough reputable real wedding vendors, so to fill the spots they were selling them to random other businesses, which has really led to the whole thing devolving to a Wedding and Other Random Crap Expo.

Aww sad I was really looking forward to the tacoma show...I have never been to a bridal show. But now I dont know if its worth it if there arent going to be any good vendors there. Does anyone know when seattle is going to have another one??

The major Seattle Wedding Show happens every January, so early next January is when it will be on next.  FWIW, the Brides Club show is a good one to drag an FI to - not as many vendors = less overwhelming and not a long time spent dragging him through.  The show tends to be mostly made up of photographer booths.  Oh, and if you do buy tix/sign up for anything with Brides Club, I would AVOID giving them your regular email address (use a junk email addy or something).  They tend to spam quite a bit from what I recall.

I've been to 3 or 4 wedding expos and by far my favorite was the March Tacoma Dome one! They have several at the Tacoma dome that I don't think they are all very good. Hoever the one I went to last march had an amazing fashion show, best I have seen at any, plus before the fashion show they gave out prizes including free tuxes for all the guys, free vendors, little baskets and a entire free wedding including venue, cake, catering and more. It was fun too, not by drawing but by competition, for the tuxes the guys had a butt shaking contest and for winning the whole wedding it was the couple with the most romantic kiss.

Anyways not positive it will be the same this year but last years I would definately say it was worth it!

I have never been to the Tacoma one.....I went to the Lynwood one last fall and it was AWFUL! I haven't been to another one because I fear of it being lame! Good luck hopefully it's not that bad!

I have been to both the Seattle one and the Tacoma one. The Seattle show was better but it was far for me to drive. And almost all the vendors I called from the Seattle show charged extra travel fees to come to me. I live near Puyallup. But I did get my caterer from it. I got all my other vendors from the Tacoma show. They were way more local vendors. But I would not go to either show unless you are early in the planning process. If you only need one vendor I would call around and look up reviews. If you do that when you call you can still say "Didn't I get your flyer at the bridal show" They will most likely say yes and you can still get the discount. I have been to the Tacoma show 3 times. Once as a bride, once as a sister and once as a bm and every time they had cake tasting, dresses and all sorts of vendors including PENGUIN WINDOWS! Absolutely do not go into their drawing, they never stop calling sending flyers in the mail. And they are quite rude on the phone.

I think it's funny that everyone is as annoyed by the penguin windows booth as I was! I think I'll still go, I'll just tell my mom not to expect much...especially in the way of cake samples (and they are the best part!).

I've been to two of the Brides Club shows, Tacoma in March last year, and the Seattle one. Both were terrible IMO. Small, not much variety in vendors, etc. I too was going because I hadn't ben to a bridal show...well not in several years anyway. Both were a waste of money to me. I was in and out of both in less than an hour. Frown

Ok. So there are two different kinds of wedding shows. The one in Seattle in January is called the Seattle Wedding Show. Then there are others that are in tacoma, seattle, lynnwood and i think everett and they are called Wedding EXPO's. I went to the Tacoma Wedding Expo this January and I loved it. It was great. SOOOO many vendors!!! Then, the following weekend, I went to the Seattle Wedding Expo to hopefully see some diff vendors. It was a disappointment. There were like maybe 30 vendors there. When it comes to the wedding expo's, I vote go to tacoma. and you can get a buy one get one free coupon. The Tacoma expo had many dress vendors if you still need a dress, there were def too many photographers...but there was lots of cake vendors and many caterers and some that were actually giving food. And a fashion show that was fun. Get to the fashion show early however if you want a seat. Anyways...hope that helps.

Same feeling. I went to both Seattle and Tacoma a few months ago. While Seattle was bigger, so many of the same vendors were at both and SO MANY photographers. Definitely print a coupon if you go. Not worht full price.

I'm going with a couple BMs and my mom tomorrow. The Seattle Wedding Show was really awesome but I've never been to an Expo so I'm hoping it will be okay since I will be driving from Renton. My wedding is in Steilacoom, though, so I'm hoping to find vendors in the area!

I went and it was nice. There was one cake vendor and a ton of wedding photographers. Proms and Promises was there with dresses marked down to $299. Wedding Belle was selling little veils (the kind that you wear at your bridal shower) for only $5. If you bought the veil, they threw in a cute little tote bag with a pretty pair of earrings in it! I bought one :) Overall, I really enjoyed it, but it wasn't nearly as big as the one in Seattle. Oh, and penguin windows was there, again :D
