Baby toy halp, please

Is this stuff too advanced? She'll be 1, but I didn't want to get her junk toys. I've already bought the stuff, but it can be returned. http://tinyurl.com/yjsj6alhttp://tinyurl.com/yloeoqqhttp://tinyurl.com/yhofuxhhttp://tinyurl.com/yjuryk6

I'd ditch the Baby Einsteins, and if you want another gift, maybe some large "Legos"? (Duplos or generic "stacking blocks".) But I think the puppy and the books are excellent.

Ok, so something more interactive than DVDs?

Is she too young for an Abacus?

Not if the beads are big, and that would help with fine motor development. The DVDs aren't really helpful in child development, so I'd stick with toys she can manipulate. A good set of wooden blocks would be excellent, as well.

Ditto bmom.  The puppy and the books are great. The videos, eh.  Dexter got a lot of "ride on" toys that he really likes (but mostly he likes that they play music and he can dance to them; the riding part is just an occasional bonus).  If she doesn't have a shape sorter, that would be a good gift. (We have this one, but any one would do great - Amazon.com: Fisher Price Peek-A-Blocks: Shape Sorter: Toys & Games)Generally, I always recommend books for 1st birthdays. Clothes can be helpful and fun, too (esp. for girls. boy clothes are mostly boring), and bmom is right about the wooden blocks, stacking toys, ring stackers, things like that.
