Iowa City man charged with abuse after giving puppy vodka An Iowa City man has been charged with animal abuse for allegedly giving vodka to puppy. According to police, Jared L. Colony, 28, of 1708 Hollywood Blvd., was watching a 4-month-old Pupggle, Pip, with his friends on Oct. 17 where he poured straight vodka into the puppy’s bowl and encouraged him to drink. Police said Colony was watching the dog for a friend for about 30 minutes at 913 S. Gilbert Ct., and when the owner returned, Pip was unresponsive, barley breathing with his tongue hanging out. Colony told the owner, “Pip’s just a little drunk right now,” according to police reports. Police said the puppy received critical care for nearly two days at the veterinary hospital and barely survived alcohol poisoning. Animal abuse is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Colony sits in the Johnson County Jail on a $5,000 bond.Jared L. Colony
