Wedding Woes

oh P&E

My H and I met on E-Harmony and I find this absolutely ridiculous. The responses are even worse. A lot of posters seem to think that joining E-harmony after you're married to see if you're compatiable will work. If this is how they want to waste their money, then so be it. From: StageManager14 Date: 11/9/2009 at 8:59 AM So, last night, DH updated his FB status to say: Stage and I are thinking we should both sign up for E-Harmony and see if it matches us. We're curious what their "levels of deep compatibility" are and how we measure up, lol.Today the responses were:That could be super dangerous for your relationshipSo, would you be open to dating the people that they do match you up with if you don't get matched with each other?and (my personal favorite), Aren't you scared that you will find out that you really aren't compatible? A social experiment isn't worth the risk of divorce, in my book.Methinks our friends may take life a bit too seriously.

I'll be honest, I want to do this with DH. But it is a waste of money, and isn't StageManager the one who had like no money for a wedding? Methinks she should be saving her pennies.

Reason for divorce: E-harmony said we weren't a good match.

I actually think someone should design a real study about this - and use happily married couples in various stages of life to compare the results. But I wouldn't do this on a whim with my H. EHarm, especially, would never match us - he's a heathen, he wouldn't even get past their screening process.

"Aren't you scared that you will find out that you really aren't compatible?" Because ESmarmony is the real expert on whether or not you're compatible, not, you know, whether or not the relationship you already have is working.

yes she was, she's married now. Even scary looking girl with the horrible Halloween make-up thinks it's a good idea. Maybe she should post her picture on there to see how many hits she gets.

eharmony is truly very deeply interested in whether dh and i are compatible.  i mean, it's not like they're out to make a buck or something.

Kuus, we call it ESmarmony, too! All those pretty white people in their hipster clothes - drive me insane. Who wants to date smarmy douches?

I liked E-Harmony. I'm not saying it determines you and your husband are meant to be 4evhah!  But it is a good way to meet other singles.    My H and I  were both honest when we filled out the forms and luckily we were a good match. But we don't have everything in common. I have noticed it's the subtlties.

BMom---- I'm not a hipster by any means and neither is my H. Two white and nerds: who love to stay at home on the weekends and play video games and read.

That's their ads, though, Andy. They used to have cute ones with real couples, and now they've gone all douchey. If I were single, it wouldn't induce me to use them, know what I'm sayin'?

Andy, my husband and I met on Eharmony too. And we are not hipsters, also just nerdy folk. But we joke all the time about going on and finding the one person meant for us.

I did eHarmony before I met H.  Now I'd like them to stop trying to get me to come back for a free weekend.  I've been thinking about telling them I'm married.

Nope, they take all sorts of newlyweds. Our episode happened to be all couples who met on E-Harmony. It was fun. The other couples were nice, a lot were in their 50s and up.
