Paper Lantern help!

Hey girls- so, I am wanting to recreate this photo, with all the paper lanterns over the dance floor. But I dont know how many to order, and how many LED lights to order to go into the lanterns!! I dont want to put lights in all of the lanterns, because I dont want it to be too bright. So, any ideas? The dance floor is going to be 12'x12'. I was thinking of buying 20" lanterns... but how many lanterns and how many lights???

Thanks ladies!!!

hhhmm. I think I'd buy a bunch of each and configure it in a room that is close to 12x12 & see if you need more. I think I would start off with about 36 lanterns. If you draw a diagram of 12x12, every 2 feet squared (24"x24") you could put 1 20" lantern. That would make 36 lanterns. I don't know about the lights.

I also might be completely off - so draw up something and see what you think...

    btw that is beautiful idea!

I think you should buy more than 36 and also don't just buy one size. I'd range from like 14-20inches. I think the different sizes will create a better texture.

I would do some with two, some with three and some with none to recreate that photo. Buy more than you think, and test each candle to make sure it works.

I as well LOVE this idea and was thinking of doing something simular. I am thinking of using like 2 colors (perhaps pink and orange) and in a variety of sizes. You can always buy extra and sell whatever you don't use or wait till after the wedding and sell them all together. Lanterns always go fast!

Oooh, I like the idea of different sizes to add some texture. Thanks for all the help ladies!!

Do you think lanterns are easy to sell afterwards? It seems like selling anything is just such a PITA. We're thinking of buying turquoise, yellow, and some white ones. And who knows, maybe I'll throw some fucshia colored ones in there too.

If you do white lanterns, I would think they would be easy to sell.  A few fushcias won't hurt either. :)  But my guess is the white will go quick.
