Wedding Woes

IHO DG's SIL

Let's discuss shoes.

Very rarely do I go super trendy on shoes because I like to keep them around for a while.I have a varied shoe wardrobe, but most often, daily wear are flat sandals of some type. I also wear ballet flats quite often. At 5'9", I don't need the extra height that heels offer.

I have boots for winter (the few cold days we have here) and for our Christmas trips up north. I have nicer boots and dressy ones (with heels), as well as Uggs.

Sneakers are worn almost exclusively for the gym. I do have Converse sneakers that I will (very rarely) wear with long jeans if we're going to Disney or something.

What says you?

i am more likely to go trendy on shoes because they are successories.  i do not own a lot of shoes but the ones i have get worn a lot.

my casual shoes (my work shoes) are plaid topsiders and two pairs of neutral ballet flats.  it's a casual office so i can get away with that (please note -- i wore flip flops every day to work from march until sept when i was pregnant).

my dress business shoes are wedges -- the same pair in black and brown.  i rarely wear them because i've worked in casual offices but i do break them out on occasion.

i also have an extensive collection of casual shoes, primarily slides and sandals in pink, yellow, pewter, and sky blue.

because my legs are not a strong point, i wear dresses with pants in the summer and spring and with boots in fall and winter.  otherwise, the dress goes to my ankles.

sneakers are for the gym only, unless it is a quick weekend errand.

next up for purchase: hunter rain boots.  WANT.

hmo, I also wish for the Hunter rain boots. However, rainy season here is summer and boots are ridiculous to wear in the heat. I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of wearing them just a couple of times.

J.Crew has a nice, lower priced alternative to the Hunter boots which I have been looking at.

I'm still in wardrobe rebuild mode.  Nearly 12 years of steel toes and hard hats can kill a limited fashion sense.

I'm basic- black and bronze sandals and ballet flats.  A couple of pairs of black heels.  Black, brown, and oxblood dress boots.  2 pairs of tennis shoes, one pair yard shoes, one pair snow boots.

I have a pair of A2 Aerosoles black strappy wedge sandals that i wear to work on a fairly regular basis. i have a ton of other really cute heels/wedges/dress shoes (probably at least 40-50 pairs), but have been wearing the Aerosoles because of all of the walking to go to the nursing room at the other end of the building. (between garage/desk/nursing room, cafeteria, etc., I probably walk 1-2 miles/day) a lot of the heels are killing my feet by the end of the day if i have to walk too much. once i stop pumping, i'll start wearing more of the cute heels again.
i'm not a huge fan of flats, and at 5'4" i can use a few extra inches.

i hate a lot of the "trendy" stuff - gladiator sandals, crocs, uggs, etc. so don't buy it.

i wear sandals/flip flops as long as humanly possible -  down here that's like mid Feb - late Nov. i have a pair of clunky Dr. Marten sandals that i LOVE (i'll wear them when i have to walk a lot), but i mostly wear flip flops if just going somewhere casual.

i have a pair of Sketchers sneakers (shape-ups, but not the clunky ones) that i wear for working out or if i know i have to do a lot of walking.

i have a pair of dressy knee-length boots for work, a pair of knee-high silver combat boots that i wear under jeans, and a pair of black combat boots that i wear under jeans.

now that I SAH, too, I am almost always in flip flops. Not old navy ones - at least they have leather or cork or something on them. Though I do have old navy style ones for quick trips to take out the trash and stuff or washing the car.

My go-to for many things is a pair of medium height nude patent leather pumps. I also have nude and black ballet flats. Plus some dressier peeptoes and higher heels for client visits or speaking events. Some closed toe for winter and for when I can't be bothered with the toenails.

I tend to stay away from trendy stuff, because I DO keep shoes for several years, usually. My boots really need replacing, though. They are 10-11 years old and, although they have no embellishment, they are starting to feel like combat boots compared to today's sleeker styles.

I rarely wear the running shoes. Definitely for the gym, and also if we are going to the zoo or a museum or somewhere with a lot of walking. But I can usually get away with my more structured ballet flats.

I'm 5'9" and I'm all about the heels. Well, buying them. I rarely wear them which makes me sad. It's because I don't do anything fun to wear them to! I feel like I own all of the "classic" styles I need, so I usually get trendy shoes. I'm lacking really comfortable downtime shoes, though, I just can't find the perfect pair (like if someone asked me to go to disneyland...I'd have no shoes to wear.)

i'm with you - i have a pair of ON for wearing out in the yard/around the pool - all the rest of my flip flops have some kind of embellishment (stones/sequins/beading) and are better quality materials (leather, etc.) - i wear these ones basically everywhere unless it's a ton of walking or a  situation where i need to be more dressed up. i did wear them to work for the last 2 months of pregnancy, but not on a regular basis.

I wore red shoes I already had. And yes, I've worn them again and still have them.
