I watched last season.  They film it here, so it's fun to identify locations.  The scene in the first episode(?) with the half zombie girl was near my old neighborhood.

They look so sweaty.  I just want to give them ice tea and give Steven Yuen a shower.  A very sudsy shower.

According to recent interviews the show won't be a shot for shot of the comic book.  So things that happen in the comic won't be guaranteed to happen in the show.

I know - when I saw the episode, I was like "I used to drive down that street on the way home from work!"  BTW - it's Grant Park, should any of you ever visit and want to do a tour of fliming sites.

It's kind of funny, because the news will sometimes have "zombie alerts/reports" depending on where they're filming.  They were near an office park up near the Perimeter a couple of months ago and had to let the occupants know that there would be "simulated gunfire."

A couple of folks on my neighborhood message board (not TK) have been extras and posted about their experiences.  I've never seen them filming, though.

That's because they're outside in Atlanta in the middle of summer - aka, the outer edge of hell.

How hot does it get in Atlanta?  Hubby and I are seriously considering moving out of NYC, jobs permitting of course.

Busy - it's been in the low to high 90's here for a good part of the summer, but that's been part of the national heat wave, I think.  Usually we have highs in the mid 80's to upper 80's or so - unless global warming has f*cked things up for good.  It does get humid, but usually cools down at night to the 70's.

Once fall gets here, it stays nice well into November and sometimes December.  Winters are pretty mild for the most part.  We sometimes get the oddball snow/ice storm that shuts down the city for a few days, but they've been few and far between since I moved here 20 years ago (yeesh).

I would jump up and down if you guys moved here.  I don't know what hubby's background is, but you have medical/scientific/research background, no?  That could open up some possibilities at CDC.  The hiring process can be ridiculous, but if you have specialized experience it helps.  There are also contract positions that are sometimes easier to get, which can help get your foot in the door for an FTE.

We'll be watching!  Mr. Arb is a big fan of the graphic novel the show is based on, so he's interested in seeing how the series deviates from the original story, and what they keep.

I watched, and will be watching, too. I am not a zombie fan, so it's high praise that I love this series.

Hubby is in construction.  I'm in clinical research, CCRC with an MPA.  The CDC sounds lovely.  Do I get a Hazmat suit?

    If you're lucky. ;)

Seriously, if you ever want to talk more about the area, let me know.   Seems like there's always lots of construction going on around here, though I'm sure it's been affected somewhat by the recession - but that's probably the case almost anywhere in the country.  Clinical research/MPA background would probably be a good fit at CDC - or there are also a lot of good hospitals around here:  Piedmont, St. Joseph's, Northside, Children's Healthcare, Emory Healthcare.  Plus you might get to see zombies (to tie this back to the original thread)...

Yeah - the hiring process is pretty convoluted, but contractor jobs are sometimes easier to get hired into, which can help you get your foot in the door.  I'll see if I can come up with some company names.
