I'm off for an ultrasound to determine whether or not I need to have the stone removed surgically. I'm hoping that 1) the answer is no, and 2) the 32 oz of water I'm drinking to prepare for the ultrasound force this thing out once and for all.

No surgery. The stone still hasn't moved since 2 weeks ago, but my kidney seems not to be bothered by it. Thank goodness.

Are you still in pain, though? Do they think it will migrate eventually?

The pain comes and goes, but at its worst it's still only about a 6 on a scale of 1-10. The stone should pass on its own just fine, it might just take awhile. I figure as long as the pain isn't excruciating and there's not danger of infection I'd rather avoid surgery.
