I always thought that Nevaeh was pronounced "nuh-vay-uh" but apparently it's pronounced "nuh-vey". I met my first Nevaeh in real life today and was schooled on the pronunciation. 

Funny, I thought it was pronounced, "Your name is stupid and your parents hate you. I'll pronounce any way I damn well please. Now shut up and take it, because that's what you'll be doing the rest of your life."

    I can't tell you how many times I've had to hold my tongue when someone "oohs and ahhs" over that name as if they've never heard it before.  :-/

    I knew a girl named Ma-REE-sa, but it was actually spelled Mariessa.  I thought they just spelled Marissa wrong.

    I hate the name Neveah.

    I met a grown up woman at a wedding named Courteney. Core-ten-A. That's how she claimed it was pronounced.
