Wedding Woes

Weight loss stupidity

H's coworker was talking about protein bars so he asked what kind she was eating, no biggie.

Then she tells him she has oatmeal for breakfast and then a special k bar for lunch and she's JUST not losing any weight.  AMAZING, right?  And then, told H that other coworker had suggested she wasn't eating enough...uh...DUH!

People are so stupid sometimes.

Is she maybe having something for dinner to make up for all the calories she's missing, or is that all she eats?

People are dumb. I admit to being in this mindset in the past.

I doubt it.  She told H, she doesn't want to work out or lift weights, but she wants to lose weight.  She's also older, so she's doing it the Karen Carpenter way.

    yay?

My dad did this when he thought he needed to drop pounds- no breakfast, banana for lunch, and the piddliest of dinners.  My dad was a whopping 200 lbs at 6' and 63 yos.  My mom finally intervened because she was sick of people asking if dad had cancer/was dying.

He still only weighs a whole 190 but at least he isn't pastey white and gaunt.

That's pretty thin for 6', 6.  (hm, that looks funny)

Yes it is O.  Yes it is.  His lowest was the 170s and that's when mom spoke up.  My dad is otherwise healthy, no meds or anything, he just thought 200 was too much and his triglycerides came up a little high.  A LITTLE high, the doc didn't recommend anything but retesting in a year.  Dad went on a hunger strike.  People honestly thought he was dying.  He was gaunt, had an awful palor, was tired and cranky all of the time.

We all still think he's on the thin side, but his color is back and he has energy to do everything.  He is eating again too.
