Wedding Woes

Does this sound like enough food?

3pm party for DefConn's bday this Saturday (please,' What the what?' with me).  About 20-25ish people are going to be there.

We're going to order two platters from Jimmy John's, a 30 piece and a 15 piece.
Chips and dip/salsa, along with queso that has meat in it.
And a fruit salad or veggie tray. <-- which would you pick?  I'm leaning toward fruit salad.

Plus cake and ice cream.

And send up a vibe that the weather holds out to be 70 and sunny as scheduled.  That way people can be outside.

Re: Does this sound like enough food?

  • yes. it sounds like enough to me, especially since you're not having the party at a meal time. people will probably eat lunch before they come.
  • Wait, Jimmy John's???  How far away do you live from me again???    I might have to party crash!!!!

Me- I'd do the 30 person platter and possibly even cut some in half (I don't know how big they are).  Then I'd do fruit and veg.  I did a hoagie bake yesterday that was SIMPLE and YUMMY if you are inclined to cook at all.  20 mins to prep in the morning and 45 to bake.

  • My vote is for the fruit salad.  I'd say you have enough food.

i don't know what a 30 piece and 15 piece is from Jimmy John's. is that chicken? sandwiches? either way, it sounds like enough. and i would also go with fruit salad since you have the chipd and dip tray.

we err on the side of too much food. we had a really big party for the 1st birthday, and had a sandwich tray along with some hot food. we made enough sandwiches one for each person, and cut them in half. they were actually very fancy. we had a ton leftover.
  • Jimmy John's is a sandwich shop. they're delicious.

i'd go with fruit over veggies, but do both if you can.

The fruit hater on the board is crying.  If you do fruit I'd suggest a tray over a salad.  Then at least it's not a water mess and people can get what they like.
  • I agree with 6.   Although I'm not a fruit hater, I AM a melon hater and if melon is touching other fruit (i.e. in a fruit salad) than the other fruit has been tainted and I won't eat any of it.   :)
  • I'm a melon hater too.  I actually prefer fruit salads with 'contained' fruit... Whole berries, grapes, orange slices, etc.  The only thing is banana, but I'll put it in last so it doesn't get all gummy and nasty.
