if you have a HE dryer

is it true you can't use regular dryer sheets in it?

Huh.  I thought I had an HE dryer, but I don't know anything about the sheets.

Why wouldn't you be able to? I have a HE combo, and I use regular detergent with no issues. I don't use dryer sheets, but looking at the dryer, knowing what kind of a job it does, I can't see what the problem would be.

    Did you Google?

Not sure about HE vs. non-HE, but dryer sheets can reduce the effectiveness of the dryer over time.  Snopes says it's true:

    And from www.repairclinic.com:

Do dryer softener sheets hurt the dryer?
Yes and no. Dryer softener sheets don't harm the dryer. However, their residue may cause the screen of the lint filter to become partially clogged or the electronic moisture sensor to be coated with residue. If this happens, clean the screen with a little detergent and a soft-bristle brush, wipe off the sensor with a cotton ball and a little rubbing alcohol.
Sometimes the softener sheets get stuck in the lint filter or over the vents on the inside of the dryer, so check to be sure the sheets come out of the dryer with the load of clothes.

    hmm. OK.

I thought the whole point of the "Bounce Dryer Bar" was because people with HE dryers couldn't use regular dryer sheets for some reason.

    I haven't googled.  <-- yes, I am ashamed.

We have a HE dryer and I use Bounce sheets with every load.  I do wash the lint trap once every 2 weeks or so.  I've never had an issue - with drying, lint or clothes-wise.

I also use regular All (but I think it's formulated for HE and nonHE).

When I bought my W&D three years ago the salesman told me that there really wasn't such a thing as an HE dryer, so I bought a HE washer and a regular old non-matchy dryer.  The dryer runs for a shorter time only because the HE washer gets more water out in the spin.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.
