Wedding Woes

s/o delivery, ny people

i was watching an episode of "louie" and he ordered groceries from the deli for delivery.  he called and asked for some bananas, and others grocery items.

is this a ny thing?  have you done this?

is it like peapod, but with a real person?  i am intrigued.

Until I moved to FL, delivery was completely unheard of. No one delivered anything. Now we have standard deliveries, like pizza, Chinese, etc.

You get delivery, how do you know there isn't a silverfish in the bag?

Do they charge a delivery fee or just work for tips?

Rub it in why don't you? I got very used to delivery in DC (although it's not nearly as extensive there as in NY). The first week we lived here, I tried to order a pizza after 8:30 on a weeknight and everything was closed. It's pathetic, and one of my absolute biggest complaints about the area.

Duckis - what are all the techy geniuses eating at 2am the night before their IPOs?  Please don't tell me pizza rolls from their own microwaves or I will cry.

When I was in CA there was a short lived delivery for everything place. It was called Pink Dot. They had ready made food, toiletries, limited groceries... But that was kind of it. Pizza and Pink Dot were the only delivery things.

It was kind of a shock when I moved east. It was so easy to get food and everything else.

PS. I'm suprised that NY isn't the house-bound obese capital of the world. It would certainly be easy enough to become so.

we have dr delivery in my area, but it's expensive and a giant pita.  you can get delivery from a bunch of restaurants but because the delivery person has to go to each one, by the time you get it, it's cold.

pizza rolls don't go in the microwave; they go in the oven.  otherwise they are soggy, and THAT is sad, my friend.

Zsa, most tech startups have fully stocked kitchens, so those guys don't need delivery. If I'm out running errands I'll often stop by H's office to make a sandwich or grab a drink.
