Wedding Woes

25 American dollars

For five cards at CVS last night. I bought two cards for my mom, one for MIL, one for SIL and one for Memaw.

Oh, and a pack of gum.

I was able to pass over the buy one, get one 50& off Sally Hansen nail polishes.

Next time, it is all .99 cards, all the time.

My family laughs at my love of 2 for 1 $ Tree cards. When I buy a $4 card it makes news, yo.

Most of the time I forget to buy a card to go with a gift.  When I do remember, it's the .99 for sure.  No sane person keeps cards anyway.

That's why I just buy one or two, here or there.  That way I don't see the costs add up.

I buy blank note cards at TJ Maxx and always have those on hand.

I was going to skip a mother's day card since I am sending flowers, but I couldn't imagine not sending my mom a card when I remembered this could be her last mother's day.

I'm so glad my family doesn't do cards.

DIY is NOT cheaper most days ...
But, yeah, it's absurdly overpriced.  I zero in on the $7 cards, never the $1 cards.

I often end up skipping them as well, thinking I should throw the extra $5 toward the actual gift instead of the card.

But I do get the blank notecards at TJ Maxx as well. I love those, actually, and detest having to send a note on a regular piece of paper. They work very well for TY notes and Birthday cards and all kinds of things.  The other usual suspects in the TJX family (Marshall's and HomeGoods) also have the cheap notecards.

And yes, I still droooooool over the full-priced notecards at B&N and other places like that. But on the few occasions when I have purchased them, I was kicking myself later for paying full price.

IDK what I'm doing for mother's day. I got my mom a Gone With The Wind DVD set. Other than that, I guess the fact that I'm driving 600 miles each way to go to one  party for her is pretty much my gift, though I will also be enjoying the solitude.
