there was some kid's show on Disney last night, and the character's name was Pants Armstrong.  It was the same guy who played Stanford in SATC. the guy who married Mario Cantone in the movie.

anyway, i have been meaning to bring this up and this seemed like an opportunity.

that said, what a shame. i don't think doped up athletes are going to go away any time soon.

    also, this:

Armstrong, in a statement Wednesday, dismissed any doping allegations as "baseless" and "motivated by spite" and noted they came just months after federal prosecutors closed a two-year criminal investigation against the cyclist without bringing an indictment.

i thought it generally takes this long to investigate almost anything before bringing criminal charges.

The issue is really that he's never failed a drug test.  But there are things you can do to pass those drug tests and there are methods that are called doping that you can't really catch in a drug test b/c it doesn't use chemicals.  But getting away with it for 25 years as a professional athlete who had to undergo 500+ drug tests?  It just seems unlikely to me.

Federal prosecutors didn't find evidence to be able to charge him.  This is from the USADA which isn't a governmental body,so I wonder what they claim to have found that the federal prosecutors didn't or disregarded.  It seems that the legal standard of evidence would be higher or as high than an organization's.

This 'witchunt' has been going on for years and no one's ever been able to make anything stick to him.  Don't people (organizations, I guess?) have better things to spend their money on than going after Lance Armstrong?

If he really never doped/cheated, I feel bad for him.  I wouldn't be surprised if he did, but I think no one will ever really know the truth.

Witch hunt if you ask me.  There was enough whining so they continued to compile a case.  Or whatever they call it....and I mean that tongue in cheek.

Sounds like they suspect blood doping, not drugs.

You might be right about the witch hunt, though.  I can see really wanting to see someone who is that big a douchebag attacked by the law.

Kuus, why do you think he's a douchebag?  He has some personal history that isn't awesome, but that doesn't really bother me.  I think he's a better role model than 90% of atheletes out there.

I'm with V.  I want to know why he's a 'dbag'.  Just curious.

His personal history.  And being a better role model than 90% of athletes is like being a nicer guy than 90% of serial killers.

    Yes.

The last people I want my kids looking up to are athletes.  I mean, I don't want them looking up to anyone famous, but I hate that athletes are made into heros to be admired.

    Why?
Professional athletes are better role models than any other celebrity.
Who would you want your children to look up to? Teachers are all fvcking their students. Politicians are all liars and are all fvcking escorts and gay guys in truck stops what other public figures teach kids about the rewards of hard work, determination and team work?
