She went to a school that had gym uniforms. Green shirts, white shorts. Do not ask me why any school would think white shorts would be appropriate for 8th grade girls.
Apparently you would sit against the wall and stretch before class, the gym teacher would call your name, and you would say "on the roof" if you were on your period.
Well, Mom had just been called, and said, "On the roof!" when the entire boys gym class walked by and started pointing and laughing.
Mom's white shorts were soaked red.
She said she refused to go back to class for DAYS after that.
